Our client, a private Ivy League research university, is actively looking for a Network Technician to join their team in Cambridge! This person will need to work onsite so local candidates are required.\n\n***This is a 2 year long initial contract with the opportunity for conversion***\n\nThis Network Technician will be responsible for the hands-on management and troubleshooting of a campus-wide data network including: switching configuration and support, wireless networking, network registration services, network & security event support, and Incident Management and notification processes for the University's IT Network Services. Responsibilities Network Monitoring and first touch Incident Response during business hours Ticketing triage for the entirety of the Network Services organization Provide technical assistance to Network Operations, Network Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Systems teams Articulate technical matters to non-technical customers Participate in 24X7X365 on-call rotation as needed\n Required Skills & Experience Minimum 2 years' experience in Network Support Valid driver's license is required Hands-on experience with most of the following: OSI model layers 1-9, switching technologies, network analysis, 802.3/802.11X/TCP/IP, Cisco, link aggregation, Spanning Tree, Wireshark packet analysis, DNS, DHCP, and/or OSPFC Wireless experience (familiarity with configuring and maintaining enterprise-grade Wireless Access points) Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of IT support personnel\n
