Job Description:
CHA recently achieved a milestone with our psychiatry expansion,
admitting the first patients to our new Neuropsychiatry inpatient
unit. This innovative service is for children 3-17 with a primary
diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability,
and/or a related neurodevelopmental disorder who are experiencing
serious behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Once fully
staffed, the unit will have 24 beds, with younger and older
children segmented for optimal care.Recognition of
neurodevelopmental disorder diagnoses has increased in the past
decade,and there are few facilities in MA able to provide the
specialized care this population needs. Thus, our service will fill
a vital gap in care - helping patients develop adaptive skills that
will let them be successful in the community while providing
support for families. It also minimizes the number of patients who
would otherwise be admitted into the general psychiatric
population.Job PurposeThe Behavioral Technician is a member of the
multidisciplinary team who works under the supervision of a
registered nurse (RN) and a board certified behavioral analyst
(BCBA). The role of a Behavior Technician includes the following
responsibilities:Implementing patients' behavior support
plansRecording behavioral data and other required
documentationResponsible for providing services to one or more
patients as assignedCompleting necessary documentation (e.g.,
patient's food/liquid intake)Assisting patients in completing ADLs
(e.g., hygiene tasks, feeding, toileting)Participating in
behavioral assessments under the guidance of a BCBASupporting
individual patients during group activities as well as facilitating
group activitiesPerforming safety checksParticipating in
de-escalation and crisis intervention
proceduresQualifications/Experience:High school diploma required;
B.A, B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service
experience.Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support
(BLS) certificationPrior human services, behavioral or psychiatric
experience required.Experience working with individuals who have
Autism and/or Intellectual Disability is strongly preferred.RBT
Certification (Registered Behavior Technician) preferred or
attained within 4 months of employment; CHA will assist with
training and expenses related to certification..The Registered
Behavior Technician-- -(RBT-- -) is a paraprofessional
certification in behavior analysis. RBTs assist in delivering
behavior analysis services and practice under the direction and
close supervision of an RBT SupervisorAll newly hired candidates
must successfully complete a job specific physical agility
