Job Description:

The Application Systems Analyst II (Development) is responsible for the design, configuration, development, and support of Joslin ambulatory clinical and practice management custom in-house developed and vendor technology solutions and programs of service. S/He is responsible for design, development, administration and support of enterprise and departmental applications (either purchased or custom built) used by Joslin.







Joslin maintains a reduced, onsite workforce through fall tbd 2021 to safeguard the health and safety of the workforce and those we serve due to COVID-19. Primarily remote work with onsite presence as required by job duties during COVID-19 reduced workforce protocol.



Office environment with exposure to patient care areas; limited patient contact.



Occasional travel to local satellite offices, vendor events, conferences, and training seminars



Must be able to provide adequate transportation between work locations.



As projects and priorities dictate, must be available to work non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays if/when necessary.







Responsibilities:



Contributing member of the Information Technology Team, and works in an ongoing capacity to further the usage and adoption of software. Makes recommendations for design and workflow improvements based on knowledge of software and Joslin clinic, practice and other groups.

Manages projects using standard project management tools and methodology.

Works with user communities to develop and prioritize detailed requirements for approved application projects and enhancements, and communicates requirements to development team members. Participates in feasibility studies, including development and testing effort estimation, for proposed projects and enhancements.

Updates applications as requested and prioritized by various departments and governance committees within the institution to provide major and minor enhancements and bug fixes.

Works with the implementation team to assist with training application users within Joslin in the use of software applications.

Develops and executes test plans, and facilitates user acceptance testing; helps to establish consensus on success factors, including but not limited to reliability, ease-of-use, maintainability, and performance constraints.

Manages application projects to design, program, and deliver functioning application components, including facilitating clinical workflows, databases and scripts, and process automation.

Continually learns new programs, techniques and technologies, and applies this learning to assigned tasks.

Participates in application acceptance efforts, evaluating the application based upon agreed-upon success factors, including but not limited to reliability, ease-of-use, maintainability, and performance constraints.

Participates in the technical administration of applications in coordination with relevant contractors, including outside hosting services, developers and other service providers.

Performs systems configuration ensuring the integrity, reliability, security and performance of the application, its data, and its hardware.

Resolves second level service requests relating to application behavior and performance.

Assumes responsibility for an application's operation and availability, assumes accountability for any action taken on the application including installation through configuration, security and user permissions, upgrades and backups.

Other duties as assigned.







Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Healthcare, or related field, or equivalent experience

3-5 years of application development experience

Experience with NextGen template development tool preferred

Experience creating automated bots with Automation Anywhere or other software package preferred

Experience with SharePoint administration and development preferred

Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines, communicate barriers and perform administrative tasks related to several mission critical applications.

Understanding of database, and report design and implementation

Experience with cross-platform development tools (source control, test tools, etc.) and ability to accurate and concisely describe results of functional testing as compared to functional specifications.

Ability to evaluate, learn and apply new technologies quickly as required.

Ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis to resolve user problems and explain solutions.

Ability to analyze and determine solutions to troubleshoot user problems, including how to prioritize and escalate issues as needed. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of exemplary, high quality customer service

Analytical thinker with strong problem solving skills and the ability to translate non-technical requests into a technical solution

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with an appreciation for critical paths and deadlines

Ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively regarding deliverables, barriers to success, and opportunities for design and workflow improvement

Strong professional persona with exemplary presentation and written/oral communication skills

Requires minimal direction from leadership, and possesses the desire to learn new skills and the ability to learn quickly
