Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptionally qualified computational biologist/data scientist to join the Lilly Genomic Sciences team at Eli Lilly. The successful candidate will help shape the computational vision of LGS and contribute to diverse research projects across therapeutic areas and data modalities. You will collaborate closely with experimental teams using functional genomics approaches to design research, interpret results, and troubleshoot.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a thought leader with excellent scientific communication skills, experienced in analyzing and integrating human genetics and functional genomics data, with deep knowledge of gene regulation and the non-coding genome. Expertise in analyzing NGS-based screening data (e.g., MPRA, STARR-seq, CRISPR screens), functional annotation data (e.g., ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C), single-cell genomics, and statistical genetics (e.g., GWAS, UKBB) is essential.
Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of a vibrant team of genome scientists dedicated to genomics approaches in pharmaceutical innovation.
  • Develop and implement data analysis strategies for large-scale functional genomics studies.
  • Build robust, reproducible analysis pipelines for routine use and deployment on shared cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with statisticians and data scientists to drive innovation and success.
  • Provide computational insights to troubleshoot experimental genomics efforts.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to publications, patents, and conferences.
  • Mentor and train team members and staff.
  • Optional involvement in creating some experimental genomics data.

    Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, statistics, data science, or related field with 3+ years of research experience (industry or academia), including postdoctoral experience.

    Additional Skills and Preferences

    • Deep knowledge of statistics, genomics, and data integration.
    • Proven track record in collaborative interdisciplinary genomics teams.
    • Excellent communication, time management, and collaboration skills.
    • Cross-training in experimental biology is preferred.

      Compensation and Benefits
      The salary range is $156,750 - $250,800, depending on experience, education, and location. Employees are eligible for bonuses, and Lilly offers comprehensive benefits including 401(k), pension, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Lilly reserves the right to modify benefits and compensation practices.
