and SummaryApplied Researcher - Forecasting. The Mastercard
Economics Institute (MEI) is an economics lab powering scale at
Mastercard by owning economic thought leadership in support of
Mastercard's efforts to build a more inclusive and sustainable
digital economy.Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team's forecasting research agenda and oversee
modeling efforts across multiple forecasting projects.
- Develop models across the entire pipeline - from data ingestion
and feature engineering to model validation and communicating the
results to key stakeholders.
- Build, backtest, validate, and monitor forecasting models.
- Apply cutting-edge statistical and machine learning tools to
uncover patterns in large data sets, helping prototype and develop
data products.
- Guide usage of forecasting models and of scientific best
practices across the team.
- Partner with data scientists and engineers to deploy models to
production.
- Continuously keep up on the sectoral trends, research
methodologies, and experiment with new approaches.
- Participate in every stage of research projects from briefing
to ideation, to content development to draft/prototyping, testing,
feedback collection and finalization.About You
- Creative & passionate about research, economics, data,
technology, and its applications, with an entrepreneurial
mindset.
- Deep expertise in one or more languages like Python, R.
- Demonstrated success in modeling with big data and experience
with tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Hive is strongly preferred.
- Experience in time series analysis and at least one of the
following: Machine learning (supervised and unsupervised), NLP, and
text analysis on economic and financial data sets.
- Forecasting experience of at least 2 years, ideally in a tech
or financial setting.
- Ph.D. or Master's in a quantitative field.
- Previous client facing experience is a plus.
- Excellent at managing multiple projects and staying calm under
