Head of Global Bioimaging - Preclinical page is loaded Head of Global Bioimaging - Preclinical Apply locations Cambridge, MA time type Full time posted on Posted 2 Days Ago job requisition id R2695838 ABOUT THE JOBThe incumbent will oversee the preclinical in vivo bioimaging strategy for the company and play a key role for designing and implementing non-invasive bioimaging strategies in discovery projects, with an emphasis on relevant application of translational imaging biomarkers. The successful candidate be the point-of-contact for imaging biomarker-related questions and issues. The scope of role will encompass all the therapeutic areas (TA), with emphasis in Immunology & Inflammation, Gene Therapy, Oncology, Neuro and Rare diseases as well as Research Platforms (RP) to include Integrated Drug Development, DMPK, LMR (Large Molecule Research), Preclinical Safety and other internal partners. The incumbent will be in charge of the Global bioimaging group, with in TIM RP (Translational In vivo Models), and be responsible for deliverables enabling studies collaboratively with the TA and RP. -She/he will drive development of innovative preclinical imaging modalities and biomarkers both in-house and with external vendors, be responsible for execution of bioimaging studies in alignment with project objectives and portfolio priorities ensuring optimal balance between internal resources and outsourcing capabilities. The incumbent will lead the bioimaging groups located both in France and in North America and provide support to project team members as they implement the bioimaging strategies on projects. She/he will also drive the nuclear imaging group interacting with project teams to propose and implement PET imaging for enabling translation studies. In addition, she/he will actively contribute to advisory groups and transverse task forces within Sanofi, discuss translational potential of preclinical imaging for project progression and participate on expert external working groups and consortia.Main responsibilities

  • Manage a multicultural team of 15+ experts in preclinical bioimaging with activities encompassing nuclear, X-ray, PET, Intravital imaging, MR, ultrasound and optical imaging
  • Serve as the global leader and point-of-contact in TIM for imaging biomarker-related questions and application
  • Design and implement bioimaging strategies that employ relevant imaging modalities and biomarkers and ensure application to projects in collaboration with project teams
  • Lead advisory groups within TIM and transversally to support preclinical imaging to interrogate distribution, and analysis of investigational research therapeutics for its application and development
  • Manage the nuclear imaging group and interdigit with project teams to propose imaging read outs
  • Bridge nonclinical and clinical imaging strategies to ensure translation
  • Direct and oversee incorporation of imaging biomarkers in projects ensuring scientific rigor, compliance to ethical standards and adequate strategy for evaluation/qualification
  • Review and/or author non-clinical pharmacology sections of regulatory submission documents and provide expertise for addressing related regulatory queries and concerns, as appropriate
  • Participate in external consortia and symposia to keep current with industry trends with respect to imaging modalities, translation and biomarkers and represent Sanofi interests
  • Author external presentations and manuscripts to contribute to the scientific advancement of imaging biomarker development and useABOUT YOUEducation and experience
    • A PhD degree in bioimaging, in vivo pharmacology or related fields with at least 12 years' experience or a PharmD degree with at least 15 years' experience in preclinical drug development in a pharmaceutical environment is required.
    • A broad knowledge of non-clinical pharmacology and specific knowledge of imaging biomarkers for non-invasive PK/PD (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics) assessment are necessary
    • A previous experience in vivo immunology, oncology, GMU or RND is required
    • The ability to work effectively with other scientists and project teams is essential and a proven track record of successful collaboration in complex environments is required
    • Strong background in managerial experience of multidisciplinary/multicultural teams is necessary as well as experience in management of preclinical research projects
    • Publications in peer-reviewed journal, and interactions with scientific societies and cross-functional working groups are desirable
