The Biomarker Development (BMD) group at the Novartis Institutes
for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is seeking an Imaging Scientist to
join our Clinical and Precision Medicine Imaging team and to
contribute to the use of imaging in clinical trials. You will
interact with clinical trial teams to design and implement imaging
endpoints in studies designed to test new biological mechanisms
across diverse therapeutic areas. The role offers a wide view of
molecules across various stages as they transition from research to
early development and subsequently to P2-3 trials. You will have
unique exposure to a variety of cutting-edge imaging techniques,
soluble, genetics, tissue and digital biomarkers, precision
medicine approaches and AI to identify unique patient populations
and test novel readouts of efficacy and safety in an integrated
way.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
---Partner in the global organization with Lead Medical Experts and
Therapeutic Disease Area Heads as imaging subject matter expert to
develop fit-for-purpose imaging strategies as part of overall
biomarker strategies.
---Lead implementation of imaging biomarker plan in trials by
developing imaging-related study documents, overseeing imaging
readouts (primary/secondary/exploratory endpoints, risk
stratification) using internal operational support and external
contract research organizations (CROs), and ensuring adherence to
GCP rules and regulations
---Contribute to development of novel imaging endpoints suitable
for clinical trials by (1) conducting exploratory analyses of raw
imaging data (DICOMS) using advanced analytical methods and/or (2)
exploring advanced image acquisition techniques in collaborations
with academic centers.
---Present scientific knowledge, highlighting the value of imaging
in clinical trials at internal and external meetings.

role:
---PhD or MD and 7 years of experience in clinical imaging with
solid understanding across various imaging modalities (MRI, CT, US,
PET, etc.)
---Experience in secondary imaging analysis with knowledge of
python, R or Matlab
---Good understanding of clinical trial design, biostatistics and
clinical data flow
---Industry experience in clinical trials & translational
research
---Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
---Willingness to work in global matrixed environment
---Proficiency in English with strong communication skills

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is
expected to be between $136,000 - $205,000/ year; however, while
salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23,
fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay
ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will
depend on various factors, including, but not limited to
geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and
abilities. The total compensation package for this position may
also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted
stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range
of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k)
eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation,
sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if
an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee
will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right
to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment
or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related
