Pfizer Strategic Partnerships Lead, Partner of Choice (PofC) in Cambridge , Massachusetts ROLE SUMMARYPfizer Partner of Choice (PofC) collaborations expand the way Pfizer works together with innovative biopharmaceutical partners to advance innovative therapies. This new business model is designed to enhance earlier and broader access to scientific innovation across the global biotech ecosystem and enhance the value of the innovation through Pfizer's industry-leading expertise in end-to-end Research and Development (R&D) and manufacturing as well as global scale. The models offer Biotech companies access to Pfizer R&D scientists and Subject Matter Experts to advance the development of their innovative therapies using a fee-for-service model. Alternative deal structures are also used to create additional value for Pfizer and biotech partners.The Partner of Choice (PoC) Strategic Partnerships Lead is responsible for identifying and securing partnerships with strategically important innovative biotech companies where the partner of choice model could be a good fit.The Strategic Partnering Lead will identify and target innovative external partners to execute partner of choice service agreements with. The Lead will ensure that the target companies are aligned within Pfizer R&D focus areas and meet key criteria (e.g., strong innovation). The lead will also vet the target companies with relevant Pfizer leaders in PofC, R&D and Business Development, and other key stakeholders.The Strategic Partnerships Lead will represent Pfizer and the entire range of Partner of Choice services to potential partners and enlist the support of Worldwide Research Development and Medical (WRDM), Global Product Development (GPD), and other key collaborators.The Strategic Partnerships Lead will need to have a thorough understanding of the PofC Governance process and work within the construct of the process with key stakeholders. The Strategic Partnerships Lead will have broad experience within the pharmaceutical industry, especially R&D (Candidate Selection through Phase 2 Development) and will work to transition new partners to the PofC Operational Leads, who will drive scoping and execution of new work with partners. The Strategic Partnerships Lead will be in constant pursuit of opportunities that will bring value to Pfizer and the Pfizer Partner of Choice organization.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESForge collaborations with top innovative biotech companies in alignment with Pfizer's R&D focus areas.Achieve assigned targets as well as the Partner of Choice objectives and milestones as defined by leadership.Interact regularly with contacts in potential partner companies from the C-suite to the management ranks to strengthen the relationship and identify new business opportunities.As appropriate and defined by individual partner collaboration needs, broker initial strategic and operational discussions in partnership with the PoC Operational Lead, who will engage key PFE subject matter experts in pursuit of potential agreements.Secure needed organizational support as warranted.Proactively contribute to the PofC Strategic Partnering Planning Process that develops performance objectives and targets, critical milestones for a one and three-year period, track and report progress toward plan achievement.On an as needed basis, represent Pfizer on areas of interest with partners.Liaise and align with Pfizer Business Development, Worldwide Research Development and Medical (WRDM), Global Product Development (GPD), Digital, Finance and Legal to accomplish business objectives.Have a deep understanding of the Partner of Choice customer engagement model and Strategic Partnership practices such as: governance processes and decision making, confidentiality, proposal generation, contract terms and conditions/repository management, system of record [e, g. SalesForce], etc.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS15+ years of pharmaceutical industry and senior leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years of business development, business-to-business sales, management, or biopharma investing experience.BA/BS in Business, Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmacy, or a related science discipline.A proven track record of strong executive relationship building.Strong understanding of pharma R&D and ability to identify innovative assets and platforms and assess their risks.Direct experience in biopharmaceutical Research, Development and/or Manufacturing.Ability to establish, negotiate and manage complex strategic contracts is required.Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated result-orientation, tenacity, and follow-through.The ability to be successful in a matrixed environment with a high degree of flexibility.Collaborate well within Pfizer Business Development, Research & Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions to accomplish business objectives.Must have a proven track record of being effective at self-management and driving results.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer and business partner relationships.Strong financial and business acumen.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMBA or other advanced scientific degree is strongly preferredBusiness development, venture capital and/or customer relationship management experience strongly preferred25-35% Travel RequiredOffice-based position with significant business travel from time-to-time, including customer visits, primarily in the U.S. and potentially internationally.Establishes objectives, goals, and plans for own activities.Eligible for Employee Referral Bonus: YES#LI-PFEThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $185,800.00 to $309,600.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
