Job Description:

This person will be part of the company's mechanical engineering team with responsibilities for the mechanical design of the IVER family of underwater vehicles and associated support equipment. This person will be responsible for the design, build and test and final release of IVER products. This person will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager. This person will provide input and recommendations for Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects and support business growth by researching and responding to customer solicitations.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a Mechanical Engineer responsible for the Mechanical system design of the IVER family of underwater vehicles.
  • Provide detailed design models and drawings of all IVER mechanical components using Solidworks.
  • Manage the design and prototype of new components to rapidly test changes and improvements.
  • Work closely with Operations to transition new designs to production / manufacturing using established company processes.
  • Assist in the testing and qualification of the IVER AUV as well as implementing and testing all design changes.
  • Assist in the integration of new sensors to support growth and customer opportunities.
  • Assist Purchasing Dept to select vendors for purchased mechanical components.
  • Assist QC Dept to verify compliance of incoming purchased parts with required specs.
  • Manage the engineering input to outside machine shops that will be fabricating components.
  • Work within the documentation control system for all IVER subsystems and components
  • Interface with customers on behalf of L3Harris AUV Systems Engineering and Business Development
  • Able to work independently and check/verify work performed by less senior mechanical engineers.
  • May have practical knowledge of project management Qualifications:
    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Candidate must meet eligibility requirements for obtaining clearance requirements.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechancial Engineering and minimum 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
    • Experience having the autonomy to make or influence decisions on a program without needing significant guidance or supervision
    • Extensive Solidworks & Solidworks PDM Experience.
    • FEA for structural analysis, ANSYS and/or Solidworks Simulation.
    • Experience in the design of undersea systems.
    • Knowledge of pressure vessel design and analysis, material selection for corrosive marine environments, and the design of high-pressure seals. Preferred Additional Skills:
      • Secret Clearance
