We have built a network of external partnerships across multiple treatment modalities (small molecules, biologics and RNA targeting) that leverage our leadership in protein homeostasis and inflammation to attach neurological diseases. Internal research focuses on protein homeostasis by direct and ligand directed degradation, neuroinflammation and remyelination.Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following approaches:Disease modifying therapies for neurodegenerative, neuro-inflammatory and neuromuscular diseases; CNS targets that modulate protein homeostasis, protein clearance, inflammation and reduce or eliminate toxic protein production; Emerging technologies (RNA, DNA targeting, gene regulation, editing and replacement, vector optimization) that when matched to underlying disease genetics can deliver a precision medicine portfolio with a high probability of success to address unmet medical needs; Targets in orphan/rare neurological and neuromuscular diseases. You'll pursue innovative ideas while advancing professionally alongside some of the brightest minds in biopharma.Position Summary: We seek a talented scientist to combine expert knowledge in neuroscience and neuroinflammation to enable the discovery and development of new therapeutics in the Neuroscience Thematic Research Center (NS TRC). In this role, the successful candidate will develop new approaches to target and drug discovery in neurodegeneration, develop approaches to utilize human inducible pluripotent stem cell derived neurons and glial cells for drug discovery and help progress projects from target validation to therapeutic discovery and clinical development.The successful candidate will be an important member of NS Discovery Biology group, located in MA. The NS TRC is a highly collaborative department, working across our locations with many colleagues throughout the Research & Early Development (R/ED) organization and with an array of external academic and biotechnology groups. The position offers an exciting opportunity to make a difference in lives of patients, gain industry experience, and interact with the broader scientific community. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to publish their work and to present at external meetings and conferences.Position Responsibilities:In the role as a Senior Scientist within the Neuroscience TRC Discovery Biology team, the ideal candidate:

• Develops and uses cell-based models to validate novel targets in neurodegeneration
• Utilizes iPSC derived neurons and microglial cells to model neuroinflammatory processes, validate novel therapeutic strategies and develop novel therapeutics
• Participates and helps lead external collaborations with academic and biotechnology groups to help progress our target and drug discovery efforts.
• Works with our NS team to identify new opportunities for target validation and drug discovery evolving in the field.
• Works within our drug discovery programs to characterize, optimize, and progress new molecular entities to the clinic.
• Works with our technology groups to advance our ability to create patient relevant models of neurodegeneration, neuronal glial interaction and neuroinflammation.Experience = Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
    • 7+ years of academic and / or industry experienceOr
      • Master's Degree
        • 5+ years of academic and / or industry experienceOr
          • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
            • 2+ of academic and / or industry experiencePreferred Qualifications:
              • A Ph.D. in a relevant biological field, such as neuroscience, molecular biology or genetics and at least 3 years post graduate experience. Candidates with a Masters and at least 5 years of experience and relevant skills will also be considered.
              • Demonstrated experience and success in modelling relevant processes in neurobiology or neuroinflammation and expertise in stem cell biology, high throughput or imaging-based approaches to biology.
