Carrier Unit group, you will integrate with a multidisciplinary
team in charge of purification and characterization of recombinant
proteins and polysaccharides. You will be in close contact with
experts in upstream, downstream and various analytical
technologies.Your mission will be focused on deep process and
product understanding of polysaccharide purification, modification
and complexation in different research and development contexts
(early development, processability, process development, process
understanding, troubleshooting, Life cycle---). The successful
candidate will report to the manager of Carrier Unit, which is part
of the Microbial Drug Substance organization in Technical R&D
(TRD).Your Responsibilities:As Expert Scientist Polysaccharides,
you will: -Design, manage and execute studies relevant to MAPS
process development and product/process understanding to advance
novel vaccine programs from preclinical through clinical stages.
-Support and manage novel programs including in-house development,
tech transfer to CMOs and providing oversight to GMP manufacturing.
-Develop new processes or improve existing processes using
scientific expertise, literature review or by seeking inputs from
Subject Matter Experts. -Provide scientific/technical expertise to
develop new Biochemical/ Biophysical methods to support vaccine
process development. -Analyze data from process development studies
and author reports for internal and external submission, including
regulatory agencies such as the FDA. -Provide mentorship and
guidance to more junior members of the team. -Benchmark specific
technologies in own functional area to bring technology to
state-of-the-art. -Ensure proactive scientific/technology watch
within your own competency domain -Provide scientific and technical
leadership in your own area of expertise and spread knowledge
across the whole organization. -Be responsible for technical
follow-up of external collaborations as needed.Why you?Basic
Qualifications: -MS in related fields such as Organic Chemistry or
Chemical Engineering with 6-10 years of relevant experience. A PhD
in a relevant field with 1-5 years of experience may also be
considered. -Extensive knowledge of polysaccharide chemistry and
characterization including NMR -Hands-on experience in
polysaccharide purification -Experience in technology transfer and
scale-up of polysaccharide processes -Independent, detail-oriented
and organized -Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to
perform in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic. -As the
group is a multidisciplinary organization, the willingness to
develop beyond the initial expertise is a prerequisite to apply to
this position. -Excellent writing, communication and influencing
skills. -Interest for the laboratory work and lab management -Team
spirit -Autonomy, scientific rigor, analytical mindset -Scientific
curiosityPreferred Qualifications: -PhD in related fields such as
Chemical Engineering or Organic Chemistry. -Experience and training
with DOE (Design of Experiments) and knowledge of QbD (Quality by
Design) -Understanding of operations and GMP manufacturing -Good
organization skills (day-to-day operations and lab management).
