MAAbout the role:Are you looking for a patient-focused,

shine? Join us as the Head, Global Therapeutic Policy & Patient
Advocacy GPLS reporting into the Head, GPLS Communications &
Patient Advocacy. As the Head, Global Therapeutic Policy & Patient
Advocacy GPLS, you will serve as the senior Global Therapeutic
Policy & Patient Advocacy functional expert across GPLS therapeutic
areas (TA) including, Neuroscience, Gastroenterology and Rare &
Genetic Hematology.How you will contribute:
- Provides senior counsel and project oversight across TAs to
enable successful development and implementation of the internal
and external public affairs and patient advocacy strategies,
including policy and environment shaping activities required to
support clinical-stage programs and to effectively support
commercialization and launches in Takeda's core TAs (priority
assets)
- Establishes a policy framework for GPLS TAs that will address
business needs and be complementary to existing policy initiatives
across Takeda
- Cultivates and advances strategic partnerships with key
stakeholders, including national and global patient organizations,
policy stakeholders and medical organizations to advance the unmet
needs of patients, empower the "voice of the patient," support
disease awareness, drive advocacy and support disease
education.
- Evaluates, monitors, and analyzes policy environment at the
global, regional and LOC levels and identify trends, obstacles and
opportunities for the business and patients.
- Leads on updating and informing the internal organization on
public affairs trends, news, and disease-specific development,
while incorporating these opportunities and developments into
Takeda public affairs and patient advocacy strategies as
appropriate
- Operates as strategic advisor and support for the Head of
Communications and Patient Advocacy, GPLS with external engagements
relevant to protect/advance Takeda's reputation
- Leads the GPLS Therapeutic Policy & Patient Advocacy team, set
strategic direction for team
- Champions team's development and implementation of
comprehensive public affairs and patient organizations engagement
strategies with cross-functional partners, including annual
planning and budgeting
- Enables team members to identify, create, and sustain
innovative/strategic partnerships to support company, therapeutic,
and brand goals.
- Key partner to internal Public Affairs, Policy and Patient
Advocacy leadership across the enterprise, Regions and LOCs,
creating appropriate forums to ensure synergies and alignment
- Identifies opportunities within R&D, Commercial and Medical
to infuse the patient voice into the company's operations,
nurturing Takeda's commitment to a patient-centric culture and our
corporate philosophy.
- Partners closely with Market Access to ensure delivery of the
value stories/disease impact narratives that amplifies patient
voice (empower patients) and support/enable access
consideration
- Ensures maintenance of governance and frameworks to ensure they
reflect the evolving needs and "ways of working" with both internal
and external stakeholders
- Serves as Patient Advocacy representative on "P3" internal
team
- Ensure GPLS Therapeutic Policy & Patient Advocacy strategies
are directly aligned to broader Takeda enterprise and Regional
strategies
- Maintain oversight of budget and drive annual budget cycle
- Lead and develop a team of senior Public Affairs & Patient
Advocacy professionalsMinimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (accredited four-year College of university)
is required
- 15+ years professional experience across Public Affairs and
Patient Advocacy with policy shaping responsibilities is
required
- Current or prior experience in developing policy and advocacy
strategies, in addition to advanced responsibilities in an industry
or advocacy organization role
- Demonstrated ability to balance complexity and utilize
judgement, leading to appropriate resolutions
- Adept at internal and external stakeholder management in a
complex matrixed environment
- Demonstrated excellent communication and influencing skills
track record of successful development and delivery of executive
level presentations
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leaders
(internal and external)
- Self-motivated and able to operate independently even in the
face of ambiguity
