treated.Job Purpose:Within the Carrier Unitgroup, you will
integrate with a multidisciplinary team in charge of fermentation
and purification of recombinant proteins and polysaccharides. You
will be in close contact with experts in upstream, downstream and
various analytical technologies. Your mission will be focused on
the development and execution of downstream processes in different
research and development contexts (early development,
processability, process development, process understanding,
troubleshooting, Life cycle---).You will report to the manager of
Carrier Unit, which is part of the Microbial Drug Substance
organization in Technical R&D (TRD).Your
Responsibilities:AsScientistDownstream Process, you will:
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up downstream protein purification
processes.
- Execute large scale purifications using depth filtration,
centrifugation, chromatography and tangential flow filtration
(TFF).
- Characterize proteins using SDS-PAGE, BCA assay, and other
biochemical assays to determine protein purity and quality
attributes.
- Write batch records for fermentation and expression
protocols.
- Transfer developed processes to GMP facilities / CMOs to
support Phase I/II trials.
- Understand project timelines/deliverables, support, and
coordinate cross-functional activities to achieve team and company
goals.
- Document, summarize and present dataWhy you?Basic
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in related fields such as Chemical Engineering,
Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or Biology, with 3-5 years of
relevant experience.
- Knowledge of bioprocess engineering principles including
chromatography and filtration.
- Hands on experience working with AKTA and TFF systems.
- Experience with protein characterization using SDS-PAGE and
other biochemical assays.
- Independent, detail-oriented and organized.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team
player with a strong work ethic.
- As the group is a multidisciplinary organization, the
willingness to develop beyond the initial expertise is a
prerequisite to apply to this position.
- Good writing, communication and influencing skills.
- Interest for the laboratory work and lab management

- Scientific curiosityPreferred Qualifications:
- Experience in technology transfer and scale-up of drug
substance processes
- Experience and training with DOE (Design of Experiments) and
knowledge of QbD (Quality by Design)
- Understanding of operations and GMP manufacturing
- Experience in upstream processing, analytical methods, and data
analysis
- Good organization skills (day-to-day operations and lab
management).
