The ideal candidate will have existing knowledge in various memory architectures and physical-layer interfaces. The ability to develop a deep understanding of memory device physics and CMOS integrated circuits are essential in this position in order to understand failure modes and develop system-level processing mitigations towards harsh radiation effects. In this role, you will work to become a subject matter expert in various memory technologies while applying hardware design expertise and knowledge of SW/FW to develop next-generation guidance system solutions. Some travel will be required in order to work with industry partners and government customers to develop and test solutions for strategic systems. The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and engage with other experts. Candidates with an interest in device physics, device computing architecture, CMOS circuits (memory control and readout blocks) and embedded SW/FW will have opportunities for growth and future design development in this role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence the design of next-generation strategic memory while also applying and advancing your skills in hardware design. Work on-site is expected with opportunities to perform design work from home as programs allow. Must be local to the Cambridge site. Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in existing and next-generation memory technologies including device physical properties and underlaying CMOS control circuitry.
  • Work with system designers and software team to understand computing performance needs in order to derive processing and memory requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of radiation effects on memory devices and electronic parts.
  • Directly contribute towards or assist with the design of system-level memory performance tests across harsh radiation environments.
  • Build relationships with USA-based memory suppliers and work to develop/influence the design of next-generation memory solutions.
  • Ability to present to large audiences and customers with expertise in the design of electronic parts.
  • Attend annual conferences related radiation-hardened electronics development and test.
  • Contribute towards system-level solutions for processing and memory-intensive applications.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:
    • MS, Ph.D preferred. Electrical engineering preferred, but mechanical or materials engineering will be considered with a focus on device physics and secondary solid understanding of electronics.
    • Early-career candidates with advanced degrees will be considered, but hardware design experience is preferred.
    • BS will only be considered with prior extensive, directly-applicable experience with radiation-hardened memory and associated hardware design.
    • Phenomenal fundamentals in electronics engineering and/or memory device physics.
    • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
