Computational Biologist

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Computational Biologist, are to:

  • Process, analyze and visualize data from proteomics, chemoproteomics, phosphoproteomics and interaction proteomics
    experiments;
  • Build and perfect informatics pipeline for mass spec-based proteomics
  • Drive bioinformatics strategy by working closely with chemical biologists, pharmacologists and data scientists to develop tools and
    workflows that support research strategy;
  • Explore modern computational methodologies in multi-omics (proteomics, functional genomics, transcriptomics) to generate
    biological interaction networks (such as protein-protein interaction networks, gene-protein interaction networks, gene regulatory networks)
    to provide insights to disease biology and MoA of selected compounds;
  • Maintain scientific and technical expertise through familiarity with scientific literature, attending conferences and developing
    relationships with thought leaders.

    WHO YOU ARE

    Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

    Required qualifications:

    • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, proteomics;
      or similar subject area with 2 years postgraduate experience in industy;
    • Hands on experience in performing analysis and interpreting biology with proteomics datasets required;
    • Experience in multi-omic data analysis including genetics, transcriptomics and single cell RNA-Seq is preferred;
    • Expertise in current bioinformatics and computational biology tools, methods and applications;
    • Strong analytical, statistical and programming skills (Python/R/etc);
    • A strong record of scientific achievement and innovation including publications in high-impact journals;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with scientists working in other disciplines;
    • Experience with genomic data sets is a plus. YOUR APPLICATION
