In Bayer's Pharmaceuticals division, we focus on researching, developing, and marketing specialty-focused innovative medicines that provide significant clinical benefit and value, primarily in the therapeutic areas of cardiology, oncology, gynecology, hematology, and ophthalmology. The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist I , are to:

  • Demonstrate in-depth scientific knowledge in Oncology and will be able to apply that knowledge to drug development in the Oncology therapeutic area;
  • Independently designs and conducts experiments, assays, and/or procedures of considerable complexity;
  • Drive continuous improvement in methodology, processes and formats through own expertise and experience to develop robust datasets;
  • Advance Oncology disease biology understanding and target identification and validation using genomic perturbation and chemical tools;
  • Identify new mechanisms, pathways, and druggable targets for the development of novel, causative therapies in Oncology;
  • Defines and communicates program strategy and associated scientific data;
  • Identify, validate and develop therapies in the Oncology therapeutic area;
  • Activity influences research priorities and ability to collaborate with some of the most comprehensive studies in disease state.

    Required Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Cell biology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry, or associated field;
    • Proven track record as a laboratory experimentalist with experience working with biological systems (cells/cell lysates/ex vivo tissues etc.) and a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role with a high level of experimental vigor and quality;
    • Familiarity with basic skills related to target validation (e.g. genetic perturbation, chemical perturbation, basic in vitro and in vivo assays);
    • High attention to detail, creativity in problem-solving, strong interpersonal skills, and proven ability to successfully work independently and as part of teams;
    • Impactful research experience demonstrated by high-quality publications, patents, and/or presentations at national/international conferences preferred;
    • Build strong relationships with peers and cross-functionally with partners outside of the team to enable higher performance;
    • Learns fast and can change the course quickly where indicated;
    • Continually challenges the status quo;
    • Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and experimentation for improvement;
    • Embraces the ideas of others, nurtures, and manages innovation to reality.

      Preferred Qualifications:
