Job Description:
Cargene Therapeutics is an exciting biotech startup that is
developing oligonucleotides as a therapeutic modality to treat
diseases. Cargene is looking for an accomplished Research Associate
to join us in our exciting new venture in Boston. The candidate
will be responsible for developing cutting-edge technologies and
related assays by designing and executing experiments, collecting
data, performing analysis, drawing conclusions, and presenting to
key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Produce oligonucleotides on time and complete QC process
- Plan and perform experiments, communicate results and
conclusions to aid in team decision-making
- Contribute to ongoing research projects in a fast-paced
environment
- Keep detailed lab notebooks, prepare reports, updates, and
summaries for managers and teams
- Ensure lab compliance with existing safety and chemical/hazard
regulations, and proactively implements measures as needed
- Ensure smooth lab and research operations by performing the lab
management duties including procurement and equipment maintenance
by timely scheduling of maintenance/servicing/calibration, tracking
inventories and recurring orders
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of research data,
inventories, protocols, maintenance logs, sample processing logs,
SOPs, etc.
- Execute experiments as needed to support research
operations
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described
herein
Essential Requirements
- Skills in synthetic organic chemistry, small molecule
synthesis, biomolecular bioconjugation.
- Experienced in analytical techniques such as NMR, HPLC, and
LC/MS
- Excellent laboratory, experimental and organizational
skills
- Passionate about research and goal-driven
- Execute experiments with limited instruction
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot, propose and prioritize
next steps
- Perform data analysis; write reports and present results to the
project team, draw conclusions and propose next steps
- Attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively,
taking initiative
- Analytical, organized, efficient, problem solver, easily
adaptable, self-motivated, independent but also works well in a
team
- A self-starter, positive, and driven with a "can-do"
attitude.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Preferred Experience/Education/Skills
- BS or Masters degree in chemistry with 2+ years of industrial
or laboratory experience
- Experience in nucleotide chemistry
- Experience in various chromatography purification
techniques
