Obsidianites enjoy a highly collaborative culture, competitive salary and benefits, and potential for ownership through stock options.Our Opportunity--- We are looking for a talented, flexible, collaborative, dynamic Research Associate (up to Associate Scientist based on experience) to join the department of Cell Therapy as a key contributor to preclinical research on engineered cell therapy products, supporting our tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) research and development.   • Make intellectual and technical contributions to projects, while working on a collaborative team
  • Work with team leaders to design, develop and apply cell-based immune assays, including engineering of human T cells, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Isolate primary immune cells from human blood/tissue, conduct ex vivo engineering, and perform immunophenotyping and functional read outs
  • Isolate, engineer, expand and characterize human tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs)
  • Perform ex vivo analysis of samples from in vivo adoptive cell transfer studies
  • Execute carefully planned bench and cell culture experiments, troubleshoot assays, discuss data, and communicate findings/present results at internal meetings
  • Gain the technical and analytical skills needed for cell therapy research, including but not limited to: immunophenotyping by multi-parameter flow cytometry, primary cell expansion, cell engineering with viral vectors, and functional T cell functional assays such as cytotoxicity and cytokine production You bring... Core Qualifications
    • BS with 2+ yrs experience in an immunology/biomedical research environment (title commensurate to experience)
    • Understanding of basic immunology and immunology-based experimental methods such as immunophenotyping by multiparameter flow cytometry, cytokine quantitation, and cytotoxicity
    • Experience in cellular immunotherapy, including cell engineering and culture of primary human immune cells would be highly valued
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt within a fast paced, rapidly changing start-up environment
    • Scientific rigor in the execution, analysis, and troubleshooting of experiments
    • Scientific curiosity about immune oncology and cell therapy and enthusiasm to learn new skills
    • High level of motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Excellent organization, record keeping, multi-tasking, and communication skills
    • Experience with record-keeping in Electronic Notebook (ELN) format is highly desired.
    • Familiarity with data analysis tools like MS-Excel, GraphPad Prism, Flowjo is desirable. Job level will be based on overall experience and capabilities.
