results.The Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance (MoCR) Thematic
Research Center (TRC) in Cambridges Kendall Square is one of the
fundamental research and early development engines delivering
oncology therapeutics to patients.The scientists at this
state-of-the-art R&D site focus on novel targets and pathways
for tumors that are refractory to current Immuno-Oncology and
Oncology therapies, and implement our discovery platforms across
all of our therapeutic focus areas. We partner closely with
colleagues in Translational Medicine, Informatics and Predictive
Sciences and Early Clinical Development to generate biomarker and
patient enrichment hypotheses to enable efficient decision making
in early clinical trials. Ultimately, our goal is to accelerate the
translation of scientific knowledge and insights into the next wave
of transformational medicines for cancer patients.Position
SummaryThe Principal Scientist will be responsible for creating and
executing translational plans for the portfolio of assets within
the MoCR TRC. (S)he will design, deliver, and execute biomarker &
translational strategies from lead optimization through clinical
Proof of Concept (PoC), including creating and running assays for
target engagement, pharmacodynamic (PD) biomarkers, and patient
selection strategies. (S)he is highly motivated, interactive, and
creative and has the ability to work across a highly matrixed
organization to advance programs.Detailed Position
Responsibilities
- Work closely with cross-functional groups including Discovery
Biology, Pharmacology, and bioinformatics groups and clinical study
team to create and execute translational plans including potential
pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers for development
candidates within the MoCR TRC.
- Oversee the conception and design of experimental medicine
studies that confirm mechanism of action, pharmacology, and initial
assessments of efficacy through Clinical PoC.
- Lead a translational sub-team with cross-functional scientists
and clinicians and responsible for creating and executing
translational plans for the portfolio of assets within MoCR
TRC.
- Independently design and implement translational research
studies and clinical biomarker assays utilizing cutting-edge
technologies.
- Accountable for analysis of the data, generating study reports,
developing SOPs and all pertinent documentation and responses for
assigned programs.
- Progress translational plans into implementation and execution
via internal technical assay execution and/or execution with
external CROs.
- Provide insight into novel ways to incorporate biomarkers into
clinical designs to enable early understanding of emerging drug
profiles.Desired ExperienceRequired
- Ph.D. in oncology, immunology, or relevant field, and at least
5 years of industry drug development experience.
- Understanding of the role of translational research/medicine
and clinical biomarkers in drug development.
- Knowledge and experiences in clinical operations and clinical
biomarker discovery and development.
- Hands-on experience in the design, execution, and generation of
clinic-ready translational biomarker assays in oncology.
- Ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret
data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps.
- Highly collaborative spirit for working in a matrix
environment; attention to detail and self-motivated to perform
reproducible experiments.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills for presenting
data and ideas to multiple stakeholders across disciplines.
- Experience in managing CRO or external collaboration.Preferred
- Experience in developing in vitro and ex vivo assays to
investigate immune function and knowledge of technologies used to
assess immune endpoints.
- Experience in pharmaceutical drug development of multiple
therapeutic modalities (e.g. small molecules, antibodies, antibody
