We deliver powerful, functional, beautiful, and integrated software solutions that create a frictionless user experience. Our organization is committed to excellence in product and data management to further Novartis drug discovery.The ideal location for this role is the Cambridge, MA NIBR site, but remote work may be possible (there may be some exceptions based on legal entity registration). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific to the Cambridge, MA site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee's expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.What you will be responsible for?As a Senior UX Designer you will apply user-experience research and design methodologies to catalyze scientific software products instrumental to drug discovery at NIBR. Working in collaboration with cross-functional matrix teams, you will partner with product managers, user researchers, business analysts, and developers to oversee the user experience of software solutions through discovery, design, development, and delivery.You will synthesize user research, business analytics, and product roadmap into user personas and user journeys to guide your design strategy. You will develop sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and clickable prototypes and iteratively refine solutions as designs are implemented to deliver consistent, creative, and feasible solutions.In this role, you will lead cross-functional teams through design thinking and other frameworks to achieve innovative outcomes. You will provide advocacy for human centered design, and coach and develop others (including senior leaders) through delivery of solutions utilizing Human Centered Design principles and Design Thinking techniques.

  • Synthesize user research in to design strategy
  • Create and iteratively refine design solutions
  • Measure product success and value delivery
  • Assist product development with quality-assurance efforts
  • Participate in visioning of product as it relates to user experience design
  • Lead associates through strategic transformational frameworks in pursuit of discovery and innovation
  • Contribute to building design resources (e.g., design system)
  • Keep up with and incorporate evolving landscape of design tools, technologies, and industry standards
  • Ensure adherence to Novartis global Information Security and Quality standards and policies for all products/services.

User-experience designers are concerned with the entire process from conception to launch and uses his/her interpersonal skills to align user value, business value, and technical feasibility to deliver balanced and effective outcomes.
    • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Helped lead many Design Thinking workshops and brainstorms with clients, users, and other stakeholders. Created materials, and guided facilitators in how to teach Design Thinking, inspire new ideas, and open dialogue and discussions with clients
    • Proven experience as UX designer with strong portfolio of data-intensive projects
    • Competent in all areas of product design: user research, experience, interaction, and visual design
    • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
    • Experience working with product and dev teams in an Agile framework
    • Bring a data-driven approach to design concepts
    • Well-acquainted with design tools such as Balsamiq, Sketch, Figma, InVision, etc.
    • Experience working in scientific research setting desirable
