About Us:The Aspire Institute is a non-profit program that provides a fully-funded career development opportunity for students worldwide who face difficult financial and social circumstances and are the first member of their family to attend university. The programs goals are to create a diverse pipeline of future graduate students at leading universities and cultivate future leaders from across an array of socio-economic, racial, and cultural backgrounds.
The Data Scientist will develop and implement analytical research using machine learning models. This is a highly quantitative role, requiring programming skills and running experiments at scale, and evaluating results.
TechnicalThe Data Scientist will inform the design and analyze the outcomes of in-platform tests and experiments (i.e., A/B tests). They will be tasked with defining, developing, and monitoring the metrics or dashboards to enable reporting and ad hoc analysis, eventually becoming an expert in translating the team's needs into specific analysis that yields actionable insights. Candidates should leverage a range of financial, learner-related, and behavioral data to uncover issues or opportunities the organization can use to innovate and improve the product and learner experience.You will also be tasked with working with the data scientist team to apply machine learning algorithms, automated decision engines, and other models. The role may require ad hoc statistical analysis, reporting, and visualization as needed. The Data Scientist will leverage business knowledge to create solutions that enable enhanced program performance. They will also help guide programs when making technical decisions.
Qualifications3+ years of experience running online experiments at scale. Degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or other quantitative field required.
Preferred QualificationsProficient in either R or Python. Extensive experience with SQL. Advanced knowledge of applied statistics and machine learning techniques. Design and Data Visualization skills to be able to create presentations of data for all audiences. Excited to work in a start-up setting.
