Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Translational Sciences at Magenta Therapeutics Magenta Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapeutics to reset the immune system to cure more patients with devastating and life-threatening diseases. This immune reset approach can be applied through stem cell transplant to multiple diseases, including autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and systemic sclerosis; blood cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia; and genetic diseases, such as sickle cell disease. Magenta's comprehensive approach to precision immune system reset will transform many aspects of the transplant process, aiming to make it safer and more effective. Working in the Translational Sciences group, the Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will contribute to efforts to progress programs from candidate nomination to the clinic, experimentally characterize Magenta medicines, and discover and validate novel biomarkers for our research- and clinical-stage programs. The position requires experience in molecular biology and assay development, optimization, and analysis. It is an exciting and unique opportunity to bridge discovery and clinical research to impact patients' lives. You are perfect for this role if you are engaged by and want to be responsible for:

  • Designing, planning, and executing a broad range of molecular and cellular biology assays to functionally characterize pre-clinical and clinical samples, broaden the mechanistic understanding of our medicines, and support new target and translational biomarker identification.
  • Independently developing, troubleshooting, and analyzing complex experiments.
  • Working with entire research team on molecular and genome editing studies.
  • Analyzing, documenting, and regularly presenting scientific data to the team.
  • Keeping current on scientific literature to implement learnings in experimental design. We would be thrilled if you brought the following with you:
    • BS or MS in Biology/Immunology with a minimum of 2 years relevant research experience in molecular or cell biology.
    • Expertise in molecular biology (e.g. PCR) and gene editing (e.g. CRISPR) techniques
    • Experience in mammalian/primary cell culture, including human and mouse HSCs and/or immune cells.
    • Experience in flow cytometry and cell sorting, ELISA/MSD, and HSC/immune cell functional assays.
    • Must be a creative, organized, motivated self-starter, capable of independent research, data analysis, and maintenance of clear experimental records.
