Job Description:

Do you enjoy software development and working directly with customers? Do you enjoy solving complex problems in novel ways across a myriad of platforms?

If so, our Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) team might be a good fit for you. We are a fast-growing team of software engineers that work with our customers and partners to make the impossible possible. From our largest customers in the world to the smallest most strategic startups, we code with our customers on the platforms they use and, in the process, help shape the future of our own platforms by partnering with our product groups to improve them. We pride ourselves on making contributions to open source and making our platforms easier to adopt.

We work side-by-side with our customers to collaboratively innovate custom solutions tailored to solve their challenges. Our work involves the development of high-impact, open source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform that are broadly applicable. We build frameworks and other tools to make it easier for developers to use Microsoft platforms. We source our ideas and designs by maintaining very deep connections with these open source communities and the customers and partners that use them. We also drive innovation back into the product groups from our learnings and experiences with the customer. As a member of our team, you will thrive in working with a variety of technologies; not just Microsoft technology. Watch this video to learn more about who we are and what we do:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS or similar cloud computing platforms is preferred
  • Strong service delivery experience including architecture, coding, and building online services
  • Experience working within and directing geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams
  • We do not require deep expertise in all software stacks that customers use. However, we do look for people who have significant expertise in one software stack (and preferably more).
  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or the equivalent
  • Industry experience in Financial Services
  • Enjoy potential future travel and are comfortable with regional travel up to 25%

At Microsoft we are seeking people who have a passion for the positive impact technology can have on the communities and for making a difference in the world. We welcome diversity of all kinds. Our team includes many perspectives, cultures, educational backgrounds, life stages, identities, and technical skills, and we believe this contributes to our success and that of our customers.
