Position : Literacy Coach Graham and Parks School Graham and Parks School Community: Graham and Parks School is a diverse, progressive school, committed to inquiry and project-based learning in the context of becoming an anti-racist community. We are home to four academic programs: Sheltered English Immersion (SEI), Language-Based Learning Disabilities (LBLD), General Education, and one Special Start preschool classroom. Our community of students is diverse, both socio-economically and racially. As a community of reflective practitioners, we collaborate to build a culturally affirming curriculum and experiences that honor and celebrate our students' identities. The Literacy Coach will work collaboratively with teachers to provide instructional support, feedback and pedagogical content knowledge and planning for mathematics instruction. This position has the following major areas of responsibility: Support the implementation of Response to Intervention (RtI) Analyze and utilize data to monitor student progress and to coordinate instruction. Oversee and organize assessment training for teachers, assessment scheduling, implementation and reporting, including administering assessment. Participate in school leadership teams (instructional leadership team, literacy leadership team, PLCs). Meet regularly with building administration to establish and maintain a shared vision for coaching, collaboration, and implementation of the literacy framework. Attend and participate actively in professional development sessions provided by the English Language Arts Department, Lesley University and other organizations. Receive coaching and support visits from District Coaches. Actively participate in curriculum development and alignment. Guide the purchasing, distribution, organization and use of books and materials for classrooms and professional development. Provide resources to parents to help them understand how to support their students at home. Perform lesson observations, providing specific and actionable feedback for improvement. Provide recommendations for school-wide professional development based on the instructional needs of teachers Other duties, as assigned by the principal or assistant principal, including morning and afternoon supervision We are especially interested in hiring instructional coaches with content area expertise in both ELA and Math, as we are considering a future model that is grade-level specific rather than content specific. The final candidate should be prepared for this possible shift. Your Skill Set: As the incoming Literacy Coach you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: A commitment to anti-racism and culturally responsive practices. Previous leadership experience at the team, school, or district level Four or more years of teaching experience in elementary or middle grades with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom. Experience and expertise in teaching Second Language Learners Strong classroom management skills. Strong knowledge of Common Core/ MA Curriculum Framework for ELA and Literacy Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff. Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Education strongly preferred.
