The RNAi Platform group at Alnylam is seeking a passionate, creative scientist to join our team to help advance the delivery platforms for our siRNA based nucleic acid therapeutics. Successful candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry and biology with experience peptide, protein, and antibody discovery and its biophysical characterization. Expertise in assay development, receptor/ligand interactions, protein engineering and protein conjugation would be highly desirable.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

* Characterization of ligand binding using different biochemical and biophysical techniques (eg. surface plasmon resonance (SPR), flowcytometry etc.) * Lead in vitro assay development in cell and cell free systems * Preparation of protein, peptide, and small molecule samples for biophysical studies * Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory equipment * Analyze, interpret, and organize data to prepare clearly articulated experimental reports and communicate the results of the projects at internal and external meetings

Qualifications

* The ideal candidate will have a PhD with 0-3yr or master's degree in Biochemistry with 10yrs of research experience in industry or academic settings * Strong background and in-depth understanding of protein chemistry, biophysical techniques, biochemical characterization of ligand-receptor interactions including binding/uptake * Strong track record of interdisciplinary research and management of multiple projects * The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and a passion for science and the development of new, highly innovative technologies. In a growing and fast-paced environment, this individual must exhibit nimbleness, a willingness to step outside his or her comfort zone, a dedication to constant learning and personal development and thrive in a team environment. * Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are a must
