Associate Scientist II/III #21-03500Cambridge, MA *Local candidates Job Description:* The candidate will have hands-on experience in a variety of in vitro and in vivo models relevant for neurodegenerative diseases and the ability to utilize these models for target validation, mechanism of action studies and support for drug discovery projects. * The position requires expertise in state-of-the-art molecular, biochemical and cell biological techniques. * The individual is expected to carefully plan and execute experiments in consultation with the supervisor including the analysis and interpretation of the experimental results to achieve agreed upon objectives.* Design and carry out diverse sets of experiments in cell and molecular biology on cultured cell lines and animal tissues to assess disease therapies.* Critically assess data generated from experiments. Excellent quantitative skills are desired.* Broadly contribute to strategic thinking and experimental approaches for lead projects. Job Requirements:* BS/MS in Biological sciences. BS + 4 years or MS + 2 years relevant experience in neurobiology and/or in the pharmaceutical industry.* Basic knowledge of concepts of neurodegenerative diseases and mechanisms.* Solid understanding of experimental design, underlying scientific principles, and the ability to rigorously analyze and document results.* Must be adept at following protocols and should have the scientific experience to modify/troubleshoot it when necessary.* Experience with multiple cell/tissue culture systems* Experience with cell-based assays as well as familiarity with microscopy systems.* Experience with molecular biology and biochemical techniques such as RNA isolation, qPCR, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, MSD, etc.* Experience with small laboratory animal handling and surgery, tissue harvesting, etc.* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to clearly communicate results and to maintain detailed written records.* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. * Proficiency in data analysis using programs like GraphPad Prism preferred.* **This role will be working in a BSL2 lab setting, working with human cell lines and live animals and might require vaccinations.
