National Postdoctoral Association Career Center Faze Medicines is seeking an innovative, highly motivatedand team oriented Director, Medicinal Chemistryto apply fundamentals of synthesis, SAR, structure-based design and bring a deep knowledge of drug discovery toward the optimization of chemical matter to influence and advance our portfolio of drug discovery programs. This individual will influence the company's emerging NCE drug discovery efforts and contribute scientifically and strategically to build a strong portfolio of novel drug candidates in the exciting field of biomolecular condensates. As part of the team of scientists at Faze Medicines, this individual will have responsibility for interpreting biological data, conceiving of molecules, developing structure-activity relationship as well as executing the synthetic plan in collaboration with key CRO partners. As an integral part of a research team, this individual will direct the small molecule drug discovery strategy on multiple programs from hit-to-lead through lead optimization and to ultimately deliver drug candidates that impact patients' lives. The successful individual will join an enthusiastic, dynamic, collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists. Your contributions might include: Contributes scientifically and strategically at the drug discovery and drug portfolio levels Functions as a scientific leader within an interdisciplinary team and contributes to the design of experiments to enable of our research portfolio Responsible and accountable for the experimental science performed through CRO collaborations and alignment of resources consistent with the company's priorities to develop a portfolio of quality drug candidates Implements and oversees synthesis, characterization and compound submission for biological profiling at CRO partner facilities Reviews, interprets and QCs data from CRO partners Develops and delivers scientific reports and presentations internally or externally as needed Participates in various aspects of the exciting new area of biomolecular condensates while contributing to growing a new company and shaping its culture Requirements Key Qualifications: PhD in chemistry with 12+ years of industry experience, or BS/MS with 15+ years of comparable work-relevant experience, with a focus on small molecule drug discovery Experience in biotech and a startup mentality with the ability to get things done are a must Track record of successfully advancing discovery programs from target validation through lead optimization and delivering drug candidates into clinical development Ability to efficiently interface with CRO partners and engage them scientifically to contribute to the company's research efforts Demonstrated expertise of successfully prosecuting a range of biological target classes with experience in neurological indications Ability to creatively solve problems and think critically while leading and influencing fast-paced research teams A track record of communicating scientific concepts and strategies effectively, including a publication record in top-tier, peer reviewed journals Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work within a project team setting, across functions, and within academic and industry collaborations We are an equal opportunity employer offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
