The Role:

Moderna is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to join the RNA Sciences group at their Cambridge, MA site. The candidate will participate in platform technology research, evaluating the potency and specificity of mRNA therapies using multiple techniques such as live cell imaging, ELISAs, western blotting, and a variety of other protein assays. The applicant will also contribute to assay development and gene expression analysis to support the advancement of Moderna's mRNA technology platform. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, collaborate extensively across multifunctional teams, and efficiently communicate data to key stakeholders. The work is highly interdisciplinary and has many moving parts. The incumbent should be motivated, possess a strong sense of urgency to drive a project to completion, and be a responsible and respectful colleague. A curious mind and desire to contribute will be highly valued.

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Design, conduct, and troubleshoot in vitro/ex vivo/cell-based experiments

  • Perform multiple biological techniques, including tissue culture, cell transfection, live cell imaging, flow cytometry, ELISAs, capillary electrophoresis, and other biochemical assays.

  • Contribute to data analysis and interpretation of study results, including the analysis of Nanostring gene expression data.

  • Interpret, summarize, and present experimental data and results at group meetings, project meetings, and department meetings.

  • Keep careful data records (electronic lab notebook and others)

  • BS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering-related field

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection techniques

  • Experience with protein quantification methods such as live cell imaging, western blotting, and ELISA assays

  • Ability to participate in multiple collaborative projects in a cross-functional team environment

  • Ability to multi-task to meet research goals

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication
