The candidate must be self-motivated and creative and have the ability to work independently while establishing strong, collaborative team relationships. They should be an analytic and decisive decision maker with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a customer-service orientation. Advanced degree preferred.Additional Information:This position is approved as a two- year term appointment (with the possibility of renewal/extension) which ends on June 30, 2023. (bs.edu/employment/Pages/default.aspx) Department:HBS InitiativesPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentitySchedule:Monday - Friday 9am - 6pmJob Function:General Administration Job-Specific Responsibilities:Major areas of responsibility include: + Design, develop, and implement a comprehensive strategy for alumni networks and engagement, including: + Work closely with the Director of BEI to design, develop, and deliver a comprehensive strategy for alumni engagement. + Mobilize, engage, and connect like-minded alumni leaders in select fields of practice with a significant level of alumni activity, including all sectors related to climate change (e.g. energy, food and agribusiness, cities, buildings, circular economy, policy, and finance). + Identify new program opportunities to build platforms for alumni engagement focused on climate-change-driven career development, online learning, topically- or regionally-focused convenings, etc. + Solidify relationships across alumni clubs to develop a coordinated strategy on climate-related content. + Develop systematic avenues through which to involve alumni in existing BEI and HBS programming and activities to bridge and extend student / alumni engagement opportunities. + Work with BEI Coordinator and the HBS Initiatives team to continuously improve CRM capabilities (e.g., Salesforce) that advance and leverage alumni engagement priorities, track our alumni and build a relevant database, and facilitate connections. + Collaborate with Alumni Marketing & Communications to uncover and elevate alumni stories of impact. + Implement infrastructure for formal programs encouraging a range of career opportunities and entrepreneurial endeavors related to climate change + Work closely with the Director to identify and pursue possible company engagement opportunities during the academic year. + Identify potential organizational partners for Summer Fellowship and Leadership Fellows opportunities, develop relationships. + Market and communicate fellowship possibilities in a systematic way to students and organizations to maximize options and uptake. + Seek opportunities to support entrepreneurial efforts through programmatic support and alumni connections. + Work closely with the BEI Coordinator to deepen MBA student engagement with BEI and develop more student networks + Be a primary point of contact for relevant club leads to assist in planning events and relevant activities. + Be a sounding board for student ideas and feedback. + Work closely with the Campus Sustainability group and Student Sustainability Associates to solicit advice, and develop meaningful action together in the context of curriculum and career development. + Work closely with the BEI Coordinator to plan events that engage MBA students and create networks with each other to share ideas, work experiences, and collaborators. + Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. For more information, visit: bs.edu/about/initiatives/ The BEI is currently seeking an Associate Director of Student and Alumni Engagement to join the team at a very exciting time for Harvard Business School, the Initiative, and partners across the globe. Reporting to the Director of BEI, and working closely with the BEI Coordinator, the Associate Director will amplify and strengthen engagement with two key constituencies vital to BEIs missionMBA students and alumnito build out opportunities and foster networks that engage these constituencies to address climate change. In this capacity, the Associate Director will oversee the implementation of infrastructure supporting increased career opportunities as well as supporting entrepreneurial endeavors. The Associate Director will also lead the effort to create networks that connect alumni to students, to each other, and to the Lifelong Learning opportunities being developed at the School. A key component of this position will be to develop and manage relationships with HBS internal partners in Alumni Relations, Career and Professional Development (CPD), Campus Sustainability, and other Initiatives, whose support and engagement are critical components of success.
