HubSpot software (Marketing, Sales, Service) is built for business of all types, focused primarily on making tools simple, intuitive, and easy-to-use for small to mid-sized companies. In some areas we have urgent business needs that exceed what the product can do -- that's where the Flywheel Product Group comes in.

Flywheel Product is responsible for building internal-facing systems on top of the HubSpot platform that enable the business to move fast, grow quickly, and be incredibly productive as we scale. We build standalone apps, HubSpot CRM extensions, sync data between systems, and whatever else we need to help the business grow.

Spinning the Flywheel

HubSpot is also throwing away the traditional "sales funnel" methodology in favor of a customer-centric "flywheel", where the goals are to add force (by delighting customers and turning them into advocates to feed growth) and reduce friction (by making the trial, purchase, implementation, and use of the tools as effortless and impactful as possible)

We solve for the front-line HubSpot employees who work directly with customers throughout their experience with HubSpot (including Sales, Onboarding, Services, Customer Success, Support), as well as HubSpot Partners (who re-sell and onboard HubSpot customers). We also own the underlying systems (data, business logic, automation) that allow the HubSpot Platform to be nimble and adapt to a changing marketplace.

Our goal is to deliver measurable impact to the business. We work on transformational projects that help us scale the business, and we also focus on improving the usability of our UIs, making our APIs more performant, helping customer-facing teams be more efficient, and building automation to drive a frictionless customer experience.

We write lots of microservices, primarily with Java 11. Our APIs are RESTful and use the minimal Dropwizard framework. We utilize Kafka and other tools to build asynchronous scalable systems dealing with multiple sources of truth for our data.

What we'd like to see:


  • Some previous team, technical or pod lead experience is preferred - managing engineers or projects and taking responsibility for the team's software design and delivery * A desire to remain hands-on in frontend development (React, ECMAScript 6, Sass) * A continued passion to contribute to the code base and for product feature development and product innovation * Experience working closely with, and contributing ideas and feedback to, product management and designers to help create a solution to exceed our customers needs * The ability to work collaboratively with the team to solve problems, transfer knowledge, and develop overall product architecture * Comfort performing code reviews for engineers at all levels * Coaching and mentorship experience * A track record in partnering successfully with recruiting to build remarkable engineering teams
