IT SUPPORT ASSISTANT 3, Urban Studies and Planning-Senseable City Lab (https://senseable.mit.edu/) (temporary, part-time, 10 hrs/wk.), to review, analyze, update, and suggest ways to improve IT infrastructure, data storage, and data management systems by using the latest tools and standards according to the current state-of-the-art in IT management. Responsibilities include upgrading the lab's IT infrastructure from a software perspective; configuring and enabling firewalls; using endpoint management tools; reviewing password policies, access policies, and the user memberships for different servers; creating unique, non-privileged accounts for each user; creating and maintaining an inventory of systems that includes device ownership, contact information, and network configuration and an application inventory; assessing the labs website from a security perspective; suggesting and implementing tests to assess the accessibility and security of each new lab webpage; documenting all work; and observing applicable data retention policies of completed projects. Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma and five years information technology, database management, or related experience. PREFERRED: bachelors degree; experience providing technical support for contemporary client operating systems (Unix, Macintosh, and Windows) and productivity applications, preferably in an academic computing or professional services environment; experience configuring, deploying, and supporting client desktop systems in a managed environment; experience creating and maintaining software deployment packages and patches in an endpoint management system; experience deploying and maintaining an enterprise desktop backup solution; experience using Ubuntu, Git, TeamViewer, Kali or other security assessment tools, VMware Sphere, VMware ESXi, nginx, Apache, MySql, MongoDB, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby on Rails, HTML 5, Vue.js, React.js, Python, Java, Meteor.js, cron, Jupyter, or MapBox; excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; and ability to present technical materials clearly to varied audiences.
