This position will be based on our campus in Cambridge, MA. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this position will be remote until further notice.

We are seeking a Data Acquisition Coordinator on the Resources team within Harvard Alumni Affairs and Development.

Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) comprises the University Development Office (UDO), Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) Development, AA&D Resources, and the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA). There is a unique relationship between the University and the FAS fundraising operations, resulting from a long history in which University fundraising ultimately grew out of College fundraising.

AA&D Resources
AA&D Resources encompasses teams that support all units across AA&D plus all schools and units across the University. AA&D Resources includes Technology and Support Services, Business Process and Operations, Alumni and Development Services (ADS), Administration and Finance, Events, Communications Creative Services, Research and Prospect Management, Human Resources, and the AA&D Talent Program.

As a member of the Business Process & Operations team, this full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for providing support on projects involving retrieving, assessing, prepping and batch-loading confidential information, working with AAD Enterprise Applications such as Advance and Workfront. This role also provides administrative support for Data Governance and will work closely with the Director on Engagement Flagging and other related projects. The position collaborates with the Data Acquisition Analyst to prepare information in alignment with approved specifications and processes, and ensures all uploads and updates are managed in a timely and accurate manner, and will support the Data Acquisition Manager on projects and priorities. The position requires the ability to develop an understanding of Alumni Affairs and Development data, especially biographic data, as well as the business purposes and policies regarding data usage, data analysis and integrity management techniques. This role also requires a strong understanding of AAD enterprise applications and relational databases. Job-Specific Responsibilities

• Serves as Advancement Technology Support Services' (ATSS) authorized requestor for assigned departments and attend monthly ATSS LPM meetings and complete user audits.
• Responsible for using technology to prepare and post batch updates of AA&D data.
• Uses report writing tools and others, such as SQL, to assist with basic data extracts and analysis of data quality.
• Tests data batches prepared by the team in staging environments to ensure quality before loading into a production environment. Creates documentation demonstrating test cases and results.
• Takes responsibility for ensuring the constant improvement of technical skills.
• Coordinates the collection, loading and maintenance of Address, Email, Employment and other biographical data. This includes working proactively with support staff across AA&D to ensure that entity records are matched correctly and that minimum standards for data maintenance in these areas are met.
• Supports departmental activities as needed, including assistance with sensitive data maintenance projects and administrative needs.
• Supports proactive data acquisition projects such as the confirmation of contact information, collection of cell phone and text permissions and re-engagement campaigns to lift special handling by providing data and developing processes to load information that has been collected.

Basic Qualifications Minimum of 2 years' full-time work experience in university fundraising or transferable experience. Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must exhibit extensive attention to detail and have the skills to produce clear documentation.
  • Must be motivated to learn, flexible to change, and innovative.
  • Adept at evaluating problems accurately and displaying sound and confidential judgment.
  • Demonstrated experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills; in particular, the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Must be conscious of data security and risk management.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to work effectively with internal and external constituencies in a University environment.
  • Must have an even disposition and be able to work effectively and politely with all people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of situations. Additional InformationThis position requires a 3 month orientation and review period.
