Job Description:

A world-class university is looking for Assistants to work with teams of Faculty Members. Poised, professional, and collaborative are three common characteristics of successful people that have been previously hired. Duties and responsibilities: The Faculty/Program Assistant provides teaching, administrative and research support for faculty members who primarily teach and conduct research. Teaching Support Contribute to the management of courses taught by two faculty members, which involves organizing and managing the course website (on Canvas), posting materials to the course website, ordering books and other materials, submitting requests for permissions and copyright registration, interacting productively with various members of the teaching team (faculty members, teaching fellows and course assistants), setting up and managing a classroom management system for each course, and coordinating and executing numerous activities needed to successfully set up and manage courses. Contribute to the preparation of teaching materials including reviewing and summarizing papers, drafting presentations, locating materials online and in hard copy, copying and preparing class handouts, conducting basic analyses of survey responses, and assisting with exam logistics. Contribute to technological innovation in teaching and learning. This involves helping faculty members experiment with a range of technologies both inside the classroom (e.g., polling software and other student participation technologies, video-conferencing solutions) and outside the classroom (e.g., classroom management systems, automating repetitive tasks) to advance the learning of the students Contribute to our efforts of using data and evidence to improve teaching and learning. This involves helping devise and implement efforts to assess students' understanding before, during, and after class, and using this evidence to teach more effectively and more inclusively. Administrative Support Financial support (e.g. processing reimbursements, preparing spreadsheets for budgets, processing vendor payments, monitoring account levels, prepare and produce financial reports using online financial systems). Office support (e.g. purchasing office supplies, making travel arrangements, coordinating events). Schedule meetings and manage the calendars of both faculty members. Hire, train, schedule, and distribute work to students or other temporary staff. Contributes to the unit's effort by accomplishing related duties as required. Research Support Grant support (e.g. preparing, editing, and proofreading of research documents, budgets, and grant proposals; coordinating completion of requirements for sponsored and non-sponsored research). Research assistance (e.g. conducting background research, formatting tables, preparing bibliographies, data cleaning, and analysis). Support in preparing research and policy publications (e.g. edit, develop and proofread presentations, reports, research papers, and grant proposals; prepare copy for publications or submission of grant proposals and/or reports). Basic Qualifications Minimum of 1-year administrative support experience. Additional Qualifications Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Outstanding organizational skills. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with experience providing complex support to one or more supervisors. Excellent English writing and financial skills. Computer literacy (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and computer skills are vital. Outstanding ability to attend to details and to work both independently and as a member of a team is important. Comfort with learning new technologies and flexibility in adapting them to an educational environment is especially useful. Additional skills in website management and technical computer support preferred. Experience in financial management, office support, and grants will be evaluated favorably.
