Data Scientist - (3142456)GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:The MIND data science group is a computational research laboratory of the MassGeneral Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND) that develops and applies integrative computational methods in biomedical and brain research. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and independent data scientist to be part of our team. The successful candidate will be working with an interdisciplinary team of researchers at the Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (MADRC) to perform deep learning on electronic health records incorporating multiple, heterogenous, data types to detect signs of cognitive decline, as well as predict future decline. They will author journal manuscripts, prepare abstracts/posters, and present research findings at professional scientific meetings.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:--- Explore large databases of electronic medical data to identify predictors of health and disease, and clinical trajectories in Alzheimer's disease.--- Develop, train and test machine-learning models with heterogenous data inputs.--- Build and process input datasets for machine-leaning models.--- Write code using a collaborative version control system, ensuring proper documentation and reproducible workflows.--- Work closely with other computational scientists and physicians to design and perform analyses.--- Mentor and teach junior data analysts on the team.--- Prepare manuscripts as well as abstracts and presentations for scientific meetings.SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:--- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks, such as PyTorch, are required.--- Proficiency in machine-leaning is required.--- Comfortable using Linux environments and containerization software such as Docker is preferred.--- Experience with statistical analysis and databases is strongly preferred.--- Knowledge of neuroscience and experience with medical data is desirable.--- Excellent organization and communication skills.--- Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary.--- Highly motivated and able to meet deadlines.EDUCATION:Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related quantitative discipline required.EXPERIENCE:6-8 years of experience in data science projects is required.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work will be performed in a typical office setting, but remotely during the current pandemic.EEO StatementMassachusetts General Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
