The Role:

Reporting to the CHRO, the VP, Global Total Rewards acts as a close strategic partner to the leadership team to ensure all compensation (executive and broad-based) and benefits programs align with the strategic goals of the company. They will support this high-performance culture by rewarding and attracting top talent. This leader directs the planning, design, implementation, maintenance and administration of all global compensation and benefits programs in order to maintain the Moderna's objectives and competitive position as the company continues to expand globally.

This person will be a change leader and manager who thrives on continuous improvement within an entrepreneurial environment—laser-focused on exceptional customer service while driving innovation to create an atmosphere that supports new ideas and initiative. This leader will possess strong executive presence as they will interact extensively with the compensation committee/board of directors.

The ideal candidate will have depth of expertise in executive compensation program design and governance, with familiarity operating within a global environment.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Direct the overall global compensation and benefits function to ensure programs are competitive, balanced and achieve desired behaviors and results that are closely aligned to Moderna’s business strategies.

Develop agenda topics and materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors. Lead Compensation Committee discussions along with CHRO.

Provide reports, updates and make presentations, as appropriate, to communicate various compensation initiatives to HR and the Compensation Committee of the Board.

Standardize executive compensation, equity planning and incentive payouts ensuring alignment with business objectives and market benchmarks.

Provide the strategic framework as an extension of the CHRO's strategy for HR/people.

While teaming with HR leaders and external consulting partners, validate the effectiveness of plans ensuring: market competitiveness, enterprise/business objectives are achieved and ability to attract/reward/retain top talent.

Ensure compensation, benefits and equity programs are innovatively designed, uniformly applied, cost efficient and also integrate the following considerations: benchmarking of peer company and industry competitors, goal setting and metric development, performance and talent management and overall reward assessments/various effectiveness scenarios.

Remain current on industry trends, best practices, compliance, new/progressive processes, etc. that enable Moderna to achieve higher levels of organizational excellence.

Relentlessly drive operational excellence and innovation in all areas of responsibility.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

Experience in executive compensation, including responsibility for preparing materials for the CD&A section of the proxy and presenting to the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.

Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends/consequences and create innovative strategies. Bring a fresh perspective, though have deep compensation and benefits experience in a customer-focused environment.

An experienced manager of people, programs and ideas. Pro-active and results oriented and capable of operating successfully in a growing organization.

Able to evaluate, design and recommend compensation programs based on market assessment and business strategy.

Success in creating and articulating ideas and plans to both executive management and peers in the context of business priorities and needs.

Outstanding problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to clearly define problems, collect data (primary and secondary), establish facts, draw valid conclusions and influence others to implement recommendations.

Excellent strategic, analytic and financial skills. Demonstrate both the art and science of compensation.

A driver personality, one who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done, while remaining a collaborative team player.

An individual who can keep up with the fast-paced and ambiguous environment of Moderna, rapidly shifting priorities to best support their team and the overall business.

Comfortable working at both strategic and tactical levels, thinking long term while executing in the weeds if necessary

Executive presence, one who possesses the depth of experience to comfortably interact with senior executives within the company while remaining accessible to everyone.

A people person who will be viewed as a leader and resource for the whole population of their function.

An enterprise-wide thinker, with a lens on how decisions made within one site or unit may affect others across the business.

The ability to work in a lean environment, taking on and/or delegating new roles as they arise.

A minimum of 15 years of diverse compensation and benefits experience within pharmaceutical/technology-centric environments.

History of successful interaction and influence with all levels of stakeholders, particularly the Board of Directors, CEO, and other senior executives.

Track record of progressive responsibility managing the compensation function within a complex/matrixed, global organization.

Strong interpersonal communication skills including conflict resolution, team management and presentations.
