Manager/Senior Manager, Global Patient Advocacy & Operations

AP Manager/Senior Manager, Global Patient Advocacy & Operations Acceleron is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of therapeutics to treat serious and rare diseases. Acceleron’s leadership in the understanding of TGF-beta superfamily biology and protein engineering generates innovative compounds that engage the body's ability to regulate cellular growth and repair.

Acceleron focuses its commercialization, research, and development efforts in hematologic and pulmonary diseases. In hematology, REBLOZYL® (luspatercept-aamt) is the first and only erythroid maturation agent approved in the United States and Europe for the treatment of anemia in certain blood disorders. REBLOZYL is part of a global collaboration partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb. The Companies co-promote REBLOZYL in the United States and are also developing luspatercept for the treatment of anemia in patient populations of MDS, beta-thalassemia, and myelofibrosis. In pulmonary, Acceleron is developing sotatercept for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, having recently reported positive topline results of the Phase 2 PULSAR trial.

You will be able to apply your passion for serving the patient community to ensure that this critical stakeholder perspective is included in Acceleron’s decision-making. You will be the key point of contact for relationships with patient organizations and will act as the “voice of the patient” to educate internal teams and champion patient-centered ideas and programs.

What will you be doing?

Manage and cultivate relationships with patient communities and advocacy groups relevant to pipeline therapeutic areas of interest to Acceleron; serve as a key point of contact with advocacy stakeholders

Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical, R&D, Legal, Regulatory, Market Access, and Corporate Communications to ensure that the patients’ perspective is engrained in our corporate culture and drug development plans

Champion the patient voice based on understanding the patient perspective to inform decision making internally

Identify opportunities to bolster disease awareness and understanding with internal and external stakeholders

Organize and assist with execution of internal patient awareness campaigns and celebrations

Oversee & manage internal operational elements for the Advocacy team

Create and implement innovative programs with external stakeholders to meet patient community needs

Present at Acceleron meetings and Company events to educate internal colleagues on the patient perspective

Requirements

What are we looking for?

Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in patient advocacy or healthcare non-profit setting with at least of 3 years in the pharmaceutical industry

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to articulate ideas in a cross-functional setting

History of building relationships with external stakeholders and developing rapport quickly

An eye for detail and penchant for process development and management

Good listening skills with demonstrated passion for supporting the patient communities

Intimate knowledge and understanding of early-stage drug development processes

Bachelor’s degree in social science, public health, science, or related field; advanced degree a plus

Familiarity with the regulatory process and commercial environment for pharmaceuticals

Ability to work collaboratively with others across all functions and levels within the organization and influence without authority
