The Senior Manager of Facilities Operations is responsible for providing management, support, and development of the facilities operations across our Cambridge facilities – Research & Development (R&D) and office environments. The position provides leadership and oversight for our contracted-out service providers, on-site vendor support, performance management and prioritization to all business activities. The position will support our general building repairs and maintenance through our CMMS and coordinating all activities and communication with our internal key stakeholders and property managers. As a member of the Alnylam Facilities & Engineering Team, the role will collaborate tactically & strategically with other functions such as Laboratory Services, Occupancy Planning, Security, Environmental Health & Safety and Capital Projects

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Relationship management and oversight of outsourced facilities and logistics services contracts, providing high quality workplace and building support.

Responsible for building services, such as general maintenance and repairs, cleaning & disinfection program, shipping & receiving operations, food services program, onsite event/meeting support, and other systems/program for non-GMP areas.

Support preventative and planned maintenance services and strategies for existing office building infrastructure, ensuring high quality and efficient operation of the buildings and environment.

Act as systems administrator for CMMS, that supports our laboratory equipment asset management, work-order administration and preventative maintenance functions.

Maintain excellence in cost control and service levels of building operations – financial responsibility.

Responsible for Landlord services relationships, lead monthly meetings, and onsite facilitation of work activities.

Maintain utilities data and track consumption and procurement of such utilities.

Manage an on-site Facilities support team, comprising both internal and external resources.

Represent and provide internal communications, branding team initiatives, customer service engagement, and program(s) enhancements.

Lead and develop presentation content, internal material, and concise program updates for leadership.

Develop and manage service level agreements with key customer groups and outside service providers.

Liaison with EHS to oversee contractor safety program to ensure training and safety awareness across our facilities.

Small project management support to building improvements, system enhancements, and equipment replacements.

Lead occupancy planning change, move, and add requests with personnel.

Develop and maintain high level relationships with internal core customers, expertise areas and other functions as necessary.

Support other key Facilities functions such as Site Services and Logistics, Real Estate, Space Management, Capital projects, Security, EHS and Laboratory Services.

A key member of our Crisis / Emergency Response Management Team.

Collaboration with others for environmental protection and energy conservation / reduction initiatives.

24/7 emergency support and management to all building related issues.

Other assignments as directed



At least 6-8 years’ experience in Facilities Management support services in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical industry

Relationship management with suppliers and vendors and Master Service Agreements

Infor or similar CMMS experience required

Budgetary responsibility of campus sites required

Successful and proven leadership of service functions and people, both internal and external

Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically PowerPoint and Excel

Membership in local, national or similar professional organizations preferred

Additional Requirements

Work will be required outside of the standard 8-hours workday including weekend support.

Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs. and remain standing or walking for extended period in the performance of site inspection and compliance activities.

Valid driver’s license
