TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, EXPERIMENTAL BIOLOGIST (PROFILING AND
CHARACTERIZATION), Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
Laboratory (CSAIL)-Kellis Lab (http://compbio.mit.edu/) , to help
dissect the mechanisms underlying the genetics of cancer,
neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, and immune diseases by
refining and validating biological hypotheses. This will be
accomplished by molecular assays, including assay of transposase
accessible chromatin (ATAC-seq), RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), and
single-cell profiling (scRNA-seq and scATAC-seq). Will be
responsible for generating data sets for use in computational
analyses; assisting with project planning, task prioritization, and
the timely achievement of goals; performing--with supervision--the
experiments listed above and documenting all work electronically;
interacting with lab members and collaborators labs to plan
research and interpret results; maintenance and ordering lab
supplies; and as skills are developed, increased participation in
scientific research and independent research tasks.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.Sc./B.A. in biology, biochemistry, or related field;
two years specialized lab experience (may include experience gained
as an undergraduate); experience performing molecular biology and
next generation sequencing experiments; excellent organizational,
interpersonal, and communication skills; meticulous attention to
detail; ability to concisely and clearly convey information to
others; and ability to identify and select appropriate tools, data,
and analysis techniques to diagnose problems and develop solutions.
PREFERRED: background in genetics, molecular biology, and/or gene
regulation; experience with assay of transposase accessible
chromatin (ATAC-seq) and RNA sequencing molecular assays; and
experience with high-throughput assays. Job #225343/27/23
