Job Description:

RA/ Sr. RA Technical Development Cambridge, MA Position OverviewMy client is seeking a Research Associate for our Pre-clinical Manufacturing/Pilot Plant team. This position will be based out of our labs in Cambridge, MA. The research associate will contribute to a team that is responsible for producing research scale as well as pilot scale plasmid DNA, mRNA, and LNPs to support research and development activities for our gene editing programs. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience with techniques related to production of plasmid DNA and mRNA. This individual must be capable of working effectively in a fast paced, small start-up company environment. Knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements is preferred.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plasmid production from 25 -g-10mg scale as well as primer design and cloning
  • Execution of in-vitro transcription reactions across multiple scales
  • Purification of mRNA via chromatography and tangential flow filtration
  • Running routine analytical methods to evaluate product quality
  • Drafting of laboratory protocols for production activities
  • Supporting process development activities across plasmid DNA and mRNA.
  • Support implementation of high throughput processing capability for pDNA and mRNA
  • Drafting training materials to support onboarding of new hires and training staff on new procedures
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly laboratory workspace
  • Adherence to laboratory health and safety practices
  • Must be comfortable with routine/repetitive workBasic Qualifications:
    • BS with 3+ years relevant experience or a Master's degree with 1+ years' experience
    • Molecular cloning methods including restriction enzyme, Golden Gate, Gibson Assembly, USER
    • Construct and primer design in Benchling and/or Geneious
    • Experience with plasmid extractions
    • Basic analytical techniques such as gel electrophoresis and sequencing.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Effective communication and coordination with people across various teams/positions
    • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
