We encourage you to apply no matter your background - because we understand a diverse culture formulates diverse solutions.Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)Reports to: Director of Software EngineeringOverviewWe're looking for a SDET who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and how medicines are delivered today.Portal Instruments seeks a curious, detail-oriented SDET to join the verification & validation team. This individual will design and automate verification/validation of embedded firmware, from unit tests to full system integration testing. In this role you will:

  • Design and implement test software for Portal products throughout their lifecycle.
  • Assess and maintain test coverage and acceptance criteria using a risk-based approach in accordance with ISO 14971 and IEC 62304.
  • Triage and troubleshoot failures and collaborate with the engineering team to find appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure software verification activities are documented in accordance with Portal's quality management system.In the role you will need: Please note that this list is neither exhaustive nor restrictive.     • Bachelor's degree in software-related discipline or equivalent experience.
    • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or another scripting language.
    • Familiarity with systems programming languages, such as C, C++, or Rust.
    • Experience working with Linux.
    • Familiarity with source control systems (git, svn, etc.)
    • Experience working with embedded devices, preferably in a medical device environment.
    • Knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) concepts.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
