We partner internationally to deliver the services and solutions that help everyone to be more productive and enable innovation.The Scientific Data Consumption Product Line (SDC) provides a combination of technology, infrastructure, software and personnel to support large scale scientific data consumption and computing comprising of the Scientific Data Platform, Modeling and Machine Learning Platforms, High Performance Computing (HPC) workflows, and "experience" products such as visualization, modeling workbenches, and analytics development environments.The Scientific Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of software products in the Modeling and Simulation (M) Products Group of the Scientific Data Consumption Product Line.The M Products consist of the Modeling Platform, the Machine Learning Platform, and "experience" products delivering broad scientific modeling and machine learning capabilities. Tasks include gathering and reviewing technical requirements, design and development of code, and working with vendor partners to deliver products serving multiple business groups.This senior technical role requires knowledge and skill in both computer science and life sciences research to delivering solutions supporting pharmaceutical research.A thorough comprehension of data consumption approaches and platforms across a broad range of research activities is essential. The position will require a high degree of familiarity and comfort working with the research organization.Primary tasks:Partner with the Scientific Data Consumption Product Leads, Technical and Squad Leads to drive Business value through development and delivery of data and modeling software productsPartner with scientists to design scientific data and modeling products and integrations with commercial platforms such Databricks and SagemakerEducation Minimum:B.Sc. or higher in scientific domain or computer sciencesPrerequisites:Minimum of 3 years in developing enterprise grade applicationsExpertise in developing, debugging and tuning software application built on traditional stacks (Java, Spring, Tomcat, etc.) and Cloud services in particular Amazon Web ServicesWorked in Database products (SQL Server, Oracle, Redshift)Expertise in building complex, highly available and scalable enterprise web applicationsWorked with Web Services and RESTful APIsProficiency in LINUX operating systemsAbility to architect, engineer, optimize and maintain software solutions to solve complex scientific problemsDemonstrated ability to clearly convey technical and non-technical information verbally and in writingDemonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of professionals globallyPreferred:Relevant work in information technology support of the life sciences/pharmaceutical industryKnowledge of Machine Learning platforms and approaches (e.g. Databricks or Sagemaker)Thorough comprehension of technologies in comprehension of data scienceHave used data driven methods to analyze and solve business problemsHas worked with Agile methodologies and principles to drive development workAbility to present demos to usersUI development experience with HTML, AJAX, Javascript/JQuery and similar technologiesKnowledge of development on High Performance Computing systemMindsetPassionate in driving continuous improvement to improve delivery efficiency and practicesDrive to deliver reusable and configurable solutions to enable the product line visionKeen interest in cloud and evolving technologies to help design, architect and build better solutions for our CompanyPassionate about modern data management, consumption and modelling capabilities and productsOur Support Functions deliver services and make recommendations about ways to enhance our workplace and the culture of our organization.
