Job Description What We're Looking For: You will be a technical leader on an engineering team focused on building a delightful, secure and compliant purchase experience for learners on edX. Working on edX's e-commerce experiences will provide you with an opportunity to have a big impact. We are looking for a motivated individual contributor and team player who can mentor engineers, lead technical design sessions, and communicate well at many different levels. We're also looking for someone to actively engage in community events and centers of excellence, and most of all who loves to roll up their sleeves and build the solutions we need for our learner community. Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Improving development efficiency for the rest of your team members Supporting strategic changes that will positively impact our infrastructure, scalability, and observability Enabling faster delivery for making customer impact Stewarding quality for e-commerce user experiences including participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation and proactive management of security and data privacy Driving technical design discussions for complex e-commerce initiatives Delivering on individual work that is high value to the team Mentoring junior team members and aligning with the architectural vision of the theme and organization Collaborating with Product and UX to ensure our products are valuable and of high quality. Things That Should Be In Your Background: 7 years of full stack development experience SWE Mentoring experience Experience with scaled microservices architecture Experience with CI/CD as code Written and verbal engineering communications Cloud architecture, front to back development Improving coding processes, increasing efficiency with considerations for long-term business impact Cross-functional communications (will work with product, engineering team, architecture, etc). Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role: Track record of introducing simplest solutions to deliver value, getting more done with less work Experience with Python/Django, React, and/or Javascript Enthusiasm for Agile/Scrum processes Experience in education technology Experience in e-commerce About edX edX is the education movement for restless learners.
