Mersana is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery and development of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapies to treat patients fighting cancer. Our lead candidate, XMT-1536, is a first-in-class Dolaflexin ADC in a Phase 1 proof-of-concept clinical trial in patients with tumors likely to express NaPi2b, including ovarian cancer and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) adenocarcinoma.Our experienced management team shares a strong commitment to scientific excellence and patient care, while also cultivating a highly collaborative and welcoming workplace. At Mersana, we have a passion for advancing therapies that make a significant impact in the lives of people living with cancer.Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Payroll Specialists primary role will include performing all payroll-related functions consistent with Company policies and processes.Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):* Performs multi-state payroll-related functions including but not limited to processing new hires, termination status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments, deductions, and direct deposit* Reviews and verifies payroll data in a timely manner, calculates overtime and other pay premiums, and enters payroll data* Oversees maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time and vacation and other accrued leave* Work with payroll provider and tax experts to register for both state and local taxes* Collaborate with Human Resources on administration of 401(k) and other benefit plans* Responds to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, preparation of manual checks, and employment verifications* Performs routine audits of payroll and benefits data and supports audits by benefits providers.* Prepares journal entries and month-end reports* Oversees tax compliance by payroll provider and resolution of routine notices and changes to tax requirements* Reconciles all payroll-related accounts and activities* Reconciliation of quarterly 941s and the reconciliation and distribution of annual W-2 reporting* Assists with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures* Assists with accounting for compensation including equity plan management, expense reporting support and other special projects as needed* Collaborates with payroll vendor to complete annual ACA required documents* Performs other related duties as assignedRequirements:* Requires a Bachelors degree with a minimum of 2-5 years of multi-state payroll experience* CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus* Comprehensive understanding of federal laws and payroll practices* Internal controls (SOX) experience* Life science/biotech industry experience preferred* Experience with Fidelity, SAP Concur, ADP Workforce Now, SAP S4/Hana preferred* Strong systems skills; ability to learn and adapt to a new accounting system; proficiency with Microsoft Excel* Ability to follow instructions for multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills* Self-starter, Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills* Ability to work independently as well as with other groups across the businessPosition is eligible for bonus, option awards and benefits including medical, dental and life insurance, 401(k) participation, vacation, and paid holidays.Successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.Mersana Therapeutics, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.Education requirementsBachelor's Experience requirementsMinimum of 2-5 years of multi-state payroll experience Work hours40by Jobble
