Job Description Food Service Director - " Rate of Pay Determined
by Experience" $1500 FT SOB "Great Compensation" Amazing Team
Position Purpose : Develops, plans, coordinates and executes food
service for all residents, personally or through delegating duties
to dietary staff. Provides leadership, support and guidance to
ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety
guidelines and customer service expectations are met. Provides
overall direction and coordination of the department including
direct supervision of dietary staff. Educational Requirements :
Associate---s degree or higher in food service management or in
hospitality (if the course of study includes food service or
restaurant management) from an accredited institution of higher
learning. Experience Required : Two years of direct food service
experience and 1 year of management experience. Professional
Licensure and Certification Required: N/A Interpersonal
Relationships : Communicates effectively with residents, families,
visitors, co-workers, physicians, and other employees. Essential
Functions Establishes departmental regulations and procedures and
develops standards for the organization and supervision of food
service. Takes the leading role in planning menus that take into
account costs and suitability and standardized recipes for menu
requirements. Makes frequent inspections of all work, storage and
serving areas to determine that regulations and directions
governing dietary activities are followed. Develops and prepares
policies or procedures governing handling and storage of supplies
and equipment, sanitation and compiling of reports and record
keeping. Makes final determination of quality and quantity of
non-food supplies, equipment and food ordering. Reviews records,
reports, regular and therapeutic menus, nutrient analysis and food
cost. Plans, develops organizes and implements departmental goals
and objectives. Exhibits creativity and initiative in pursuing
organizational and departmental growth and development. Develops,
revises and interprets departmental policies. Develops and controls
budgeted expenses. Conducts staff meetings and meets with members
of other departments to coordinate activities with those
departments. Submits appropriate reports as required; participates
in quality improvement projects within the facility. Communicates
effectively on all levels both orally and in writing. Maintains
interdepartmental cooperation. Analyzes, evaluates and solves
inter- and intradepartmental problems: recommends solutions when
necessary. Ensures meals are palatable & well-presented before
serving residents. Doing rounds on a daily basis to ensure a clean,
orderly & well-run kitchen. Ensuring proper temperatures of meals &
drinks before serving. Reviewing & changing menu to accommodate a
wide variety of preferences. Participates in inspections (surveys)
conducted by authorized agencies Participates in quality assurance
and improvement processes within the facility. Demonstrates the
mission, vision, and values of the facility through professional
excellence. Staff Development Functions Attends departmental
meetings as scheduled to assist in identifying and correcting
problem areas, and/or improvement of services. Participates in the
orientation of new staff members to the facility and ensures that
appropriate education and mentoring is in place. Attends and
participates in scheduled training and educational classes. Attends
and completes all mandatory in-service programs. Training &
supporting staff as needed. Safety and Infection Control Follows
established protocol during fire drills and disaster training.
Follows established universal precautions and infection control
policies and procedures when performing daily tasks. Ensures that
all work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner
per federal and state regulations. Resident Rights Maintains
confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
Knowledge of facility and state mandatory reporting practices
regarding any suspected cases of abuse, mistreatment, or neglect.
Take all reasonable measures to ensure residents receive foods of
their choice/preference. Report all grievances/complaints made by
the resident to your supervisor immediately. Ensures that all
residents are treated fairly with kindness, dignity, and respect.
Provides nursing care in a manner that ensures all residents are
treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect.
