RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Anderson Lab , to assist in chemical synthesis of materials for mRNA delivery; perform chemical synthesis of small molecules such as lipids and monomers for polymer; perform scale-up for materials needed for lipid synthesis and chemical and biophysical characterization (NMR, mass spectrometry, cryoTEM, DLS, zeta potential); perform GPC, HPLC, SEC, flash chromatography analysis, and purification. Assist with high throughput synthesis using automation; perform maintenance of robotic instrument for chemical synthesis; assist with designing protocols for automated synthesis; maintain database server for developed protocols; and organize and prepare a large library of polymer synthesis. Other responsibilities may include equipment maintenance and repairs, assisting with laboratory inventory, documenting results of experiments, researching and gathering information for projects, conducting bibliographic searches for literature leads and references, and updating manuals and procedures for the laboratory researchers. Will report to a postdoctoral researcher. All necessary training will be provided for the accomplishment of listed tasks. All experimental efforts will be under the supervision of the postdoctoral researcher. Job Requirements REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; computer skills; practiced documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; awareness of safe work practices and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; willingness to work with animals; discretion and judgment with confidential information and/or issues; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers. PREFERRED : bachelor's degree in chemical sciences, exposure to a research lab, training in hands-on equipment maintenance, and working knowledge of automation and high throughput synthesis in chemical research.
