Job Description:
Job DescriptionWe are seeking for a highly motivated individual
and a proven leader to head our Precision Oncology Team. This group
uses both back translational insights and forward translational
experiments to advance our Research pipeline and Early Development
portfolio. The Head collaborates with Oncology Research scientists
to launch new drug discovery programs to target specific patient
populations inspired from back-translational insights. The Head
also works in a matrix and collaborates with groups outside
Oncology Research (e.g., Precision Medicine, Early Clinical
Development, Translational Medicine and other functional units) to
develop and implement translation medicine plans as well as
biomarker assays to guide proof of mechanism and proof of clinical
benefit Phase 1 and 2 studies. A successful candidate must be
familiar with Data Science and omics technologies, including
single-cell, spatial profiling, and high dimensional flow, as well
as their utility and application to drive Research and Clinical
decision making.Responsibilities
- Lead a team of over 40+ scientists to formulate and develop
translational strategies to support target validation, drug
discovery projects and investigational therapeutics in our
pipeline
- Formulate translational medicine strategies for pre-clinical
projects, including measuring pharmacodynamic biomarkers to inform
decisions for dose selection and schedules
- Formulate responder hypotheses; lead discovery of biomarkers
and data-driven strategies for patient stratification
- Lead internal efforts and external collaborations with partner
companies and academic institutions to further characterize the
therapeutic activity of our novel compounds and refine
understanding of their mechanism of action to enable indication
expansion and novel combination approaches
- Oversee the management, marshalling, analysis of the genetic,
genomic, Real-World Evidence, imaging data required to advance the
portfolio
- Participate in business development meetings and contribute to
due diligence efforts
- Support cross-functional drug development teams
- Establish group goals, associated budgets and set timelines for
deliverables.
- Present internally and externally to demonstrate the impact and
champion the missionRequired Qualifications
- Ph.D. in cancer biology, computational, biophysics,
bioinformatics, or a related field with in-depth knowledge of
oncology disease biology and translational science as well as solid
understanding of immunology
- Deep Immuno-Oncology experience as well as knowledge of
emerging and current standards of care to define rational
combinations
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated experience a team leader
- Proven track record in planning and executing preclinical/early
clinical-stage translational projects
- Ability to drive, manage, execute, and deliver results for
complex multi-functional projects
- Highly developed collaborative working skills
- Technical expertise for deep analyses of pre-clinical and
clinical samples, such as with genomic profiling, bulk and single
cell RNA sequencing, multi-parameter flow panels
- Ability to act as an external Sanofi representative and to
influence external organizations.
- Proven ability to motivate and develop others
- Strong knowledge of the key business drivers and considerations
in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and /or life science
industries
- Strong communication skills written and verbal including
