The Tissue culture Lead will provide onsite support to the Research and Early Development labs, dedicated to Tissue culture rooms. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with extensive tissue culture experience to be responsible for the maintenance of cell culture materials and equipment. In this role the candidate will use their exceptional organizational skills to support all activities such as mammalian cell inventory, mycoplasma testing, aseptic technique training, BSC and incubator decontamination and will assume a large variety of operational tasks. The ideal candidate must have experience in the following areas: lab operations in BSL1 and BSL2, aseptic techniques, writing guideline documents, handling of hazardous materials according to EH&S guidelines, record keeping and adherence to all regulatory requirements. Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as point-of-contact for all TC related projects or issues.
  • Partner with scientific teams to understand project needs, priorities and solve TC related issues and contamination.
  • Performs monthly mycoplasma testing
  • Delivers training virtually and in-person classroom sessions for all existing and new employees
  • Maintain Tissue Culture equipment and decontaminate as needed
  • Maintain Tissue culture reagents, chemicals, and consumables
  • Implement equipment scheduling system and provide metrics or KPI as needed.
  • Partner with EHS, facilities, IT, engineering, and space planning to continually drive compliance and department deliverables
  • Be and active contributor to lab moves and relocations
  • Develop expertise in all primary job functions, enabling the ability to train others and update SOPs guideline documents as required
  • Support suite equipment and systems to ensure no disruptions.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure completion of all operations tasks
  • Effectively communicate with end users and providing updates as needed
  • Ensure a safe working environment by identifying, reporting, and eliminating potential workplace hazards
  • In partnership with EHS, perform routine lab safety inspections and walkthroughs, and participate in monthly safety committees Qualifications
    • Bachelors/ MS in a science related field with 5 + years of biotech experience
    • Experience with laboratory operations and working in a tissue culture space.
    • Experience with handling, organizing, and planning the culture and maintenance of multiple mammalian cell lines
    • Knowledgeable of aseptic technique and quality control practices
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent record keeping abilities such as cell line, consumable, and reagent inventorying
    • Knowledge of basic computer systems (ex: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint), ERP systems and other tools required for purchasing and equipment asset management
    • Excellent organizational and verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and escalate issues as needed
    • Proven self-starter with a track record of managing multiple and fast-paced projects and tasks simultaneously
    • Ability to collaborate in a team environment; ability to cultivate and maintain effective business partner relationships with stakeholders, peers, and vendors
