Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), the pharmacy department has the

community hospital setting and an outpatient setting. The pharmacy
department at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is a dynamic
department with cutting edge clinical services and state of the art
automation and technology. We utilize EPIC for our Electronic
Health Record (EHR), Pyxis technology for dispensing and have
bedside bar coding implemented in all inpatient areas. All of the
services we provide are performed with a focus on optimizing
clinical outcomes and patient safety, increasing patient
satisfaction and improving the financial sustainability of the
organization.Summary:
Within established organizational and departmental policies and
procedures, the Specialist, Pharmacy Operations is responsible for
the day-to-day support of departmental operations. Primary,
essential job functions include maintenance and support of
departmental software systems, oversight of medication ordering for
all campuses, inventory control and the training of technical
staff. A commitment to patient safety, customer satisfaction,
efficient/effective use of resources, teamwork, innovation, and
performance improvement is required.Responsibilities:Conducts
Sterile Products compounding training for all new qualified
employees and eligible students.Conducts Hazardous IV Products
compounding training for all eligible employees (all pharmacists
and full-time certified technicians).Conducts abbreviated Sterile
Products training for students ineligible for full
trainingCoordinates and conducts annual Sterile Products competency
for all trained staffCoordinates and conducts annual Hazardous
Compounding competency for all trained staffAssigning of all
sterile products assignments in HealthStream prior to beginning
trainingEvaluation of new products and ensure approved products are
available at both campusesPrepares and administers annual Sterile
Compounding assessment exam to all trained staff.Prepares and
administers calculations exam to all technician/student trainees to
evaluate skills prior to beginning Sterile Products training.Work
with Pharmacy Directors and Managers to develop and updatein
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to sterile compounding
and IV room related tasks.Work with Pharmacy Directors and Managers
to develop and maintain department IV room Master Formulation
records.Perform and coordinate process for bi-annual Wipe Sampling
for each sterile compounding area.Works with Sterile Products team
to coordinate training schedule. Notifies each site Manager of the
finalized schedule.Continually monitors USP & regulations and
prepares for upcoming changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Other information:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D certificate is
required.
Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
Certification: Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved
certifying body pharmacy technician certification examination is
required.
Registration: Must have a current technician registration in good
standing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy
or be eligible for registration in MA.
Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience as a pharmacy
technician is required or three (3) years with a college degree.
Experience with pharmacy software, Pharmacy automation, USP and USP
