recruiting for a Manager, Environmental Health & Safety & Human
Performance -for our -Operations Services division -in Cambridge,
Ontario. JOB PURPOSE To manage and administer the Field Services
and Cambridge office environment EH&S programs. To manage the
Human Performance (HU) program for Field Services through
recognition, identification and analysis of trouble spots,
education on the value of human performance improvements,
developing and implementing training and change readiness programs
as well as conducting evaluations to ensure their effectiveness.
This position reports into the Executive Vice President of Projects
and Field services and has two direct reports (Health & Safety
Coordinator; Site EH&S Specialist). Human Performance
- Maintain and continuously improve the Human Performance program
for Field Services.
- Implement and maintain the HU communication strategy.
- Enhance core competencies by coaching, mentoring, and
delivering targeted training to managers, team leaders, process
owners, and employees in the use of HU methodology and tools.
- Guide employees through HU training qualification processes and
tools courses.
- Build and maintain relationships with managers and supervisors
in order to educate them on HU and to obtain their buy-in on
proposed HU improvements.
- Assemble teams representing appropriate business unit mix to
review work situations for HU improvements.
- Ensure implementation plans incorporate methods to overcome
resistance to change.
- Interface with stakeholders to ensure Lessons Learned and other
OpEx processes are effectively implemented. Monitor the changes,
post-implementation, to ensure that new processes are being
followed.
- Identify, track and monitor appropriate leading indicator
metrics, including low level events, to reflect Human Performance
Improvements and to drive the desired organizational
behaviours.
- Publish the metrics at regular intervals and conduct meetings
with the Senior Leadership Team to review progress towards
improvements.
- Act as subject matter expert and resource to staff regarding
HU.
- Conduct process improvement initiatives with process owners
which includes:
- Documenting current process to identify pain points and
opportunities
- Performing supporting data analysis
- Facilitating the design of the process changes
- Creating future state processes
- Documenting the improvements in a format that is appropriate
for the content and its intended audience
- Supporting implementation of the process change
- Provide administration support for in-house training courses,
including maintenance of training records. EH&S Service/System
Monitoring:
- Monitor and assess shop and field activities to recommend
measures or actions to be taken to ensure that all work is
performed safely.
- Provide consultation and advice to all levels of management,
supervision and personnel regarding safe work / operating
procedures.
- Develop EH&S management system including audit element for
compliance.
- Develop EH&S policies and procedures. Regulation
Compliance:
- Monitor and assess activities to ensure compliance with all
relevant legislation: Occupational Health & Safety, Workplace
Safety and Insurance Board, etc. Claims Management:
- Ensure WSIB claims management function undertaken for all Field
Services related activities is in a timely, cost effective manner.
EH&S Management:
- Monitor and direct activities of the EH&S staff and assist
as required to meet department objectives.
- Responsible for incident investigation.
- Quarterly reporting of Environmental Statistics for
Cambridge.
- Compilation and reporting of all hours worked for
Cambridge.
- Own and maintain Gensuite application.
- Oversee safety audits and stay abreast of legislation, health &
safety statistical reporting and analysis of trends. Training:
- Prepare and facilitate Safety and HU performance training.
- Create or obtain training content.
- Review and approve external training content for
suitability.
- Other program input as assigned. Other:
- Supervisor Readiness Reviews and facilitate HU site specific
functional requirements.
- Participate in Oral Review Boards at the customer level.
- Customer liaison for Site Safety and Human Performance
interaction. QUALIFICATIONS
- University or college degree in either engineering, science,
business or adult education.
- EH&S Professional designation is a preferred asset.
- Several years of safety experience in a manufacturing
environment with a minimum of 3 years in a management role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Excellent relationship building and influencing skills. Key

- Strong technical background in on-site nuclear services,
safety, Human Performance concepts, and continuous
improvement.
- Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the
ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
- Ability to interpret cross-functional processes and to prepare
clear, concise recommendations for process improvements in an
appropriate style and format.
- Ability to work on your own for long periods when developing
process improvements, but also able to work effectively in a small
team when required.
- Ability to prioritize deadlines and to complete assignments
accurately and on schedule.
- Eligible for Bruce Power and OPG site access security
