Senior Scientist - Immuno-Oncology Cell and Gene Therapy Group Job Description 5600! That is the number of associates across the globe at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled cell therapy scientist to join the Cell and Gene Therapy group within NIBR Exploratory Immuno-Oncology and contribute to developing pioneering CAR-T cell therapies. We are dedicated to discovering innovative cancer therapeutics and therapeutic formats that transform patients' lives and transform the field of cell therapy. You'll become a key individual contributor in a dynamic, multidisciplinary discovery team interrogating unique cell therapy platforms and will generate data that increases our understanding of emerging CAR-T cell therapies. The high-quality data generated will directly impact the development of future cell therapies and contribute to the design of future clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for cancer patients. This position will be ideal for those candidates wishing to combine their interest in immuno-biology of cancer, with their strong desire to discover and help develop therapeutic approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
---Contribute to design of novel bioanalytical assays to improve the understanding of novel cell therapy products
---Conduct detailed in vitro characterization and testing of cell therapy products using protein and gene expression analysis
---Design and execute experiments independently; accurately record, analyze, and communicate data to senior staff and team members
---Work with internal and external partners to test, optimize and advance new cellular therapies into early development
---Present results in team meetings and deliver presentations to both small and large groups

What you will bring to the role:

---BS/MS degree in biology-related or engineering subject area with 3-6 years of relevant biomedical research experience. Job title and grade level will be commensurate with experience and skillset.
---Knowledge of immunology, cellular therapies, and/or tumor immunology
---Understanding of ex-vivo cell-characterization by multi-color FACS and cytokine profiling (ELISA/MSD/Luminex), and gene expression analysis (qPCR, RNAseq)
---Prior experience with immune cell isolation techniques and the culture of primary human T cells
---Strong verbal and writing skills for documentation of data, drafting of technical reports, and communication of progress to manager and other team members.
---Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment and adapt to changing directions/priorities.
---Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation.
---Scientifically self-motivated, and capable of independently conducting, and critically analyzing own research with minimal supervision.

Desirable requirements:
---Experience with engineered T cell manufacturing and culture, including process optimization and functional testing of engineered T cells
